The lack of big men is astounding. This is almost all guards. Fuck this shit.

Racism is a one way street. Sports like hockey and swimming are racist. Basketball and Football are not. Oscars are racist. Grammys are not. Republicans are racist. Democrats are not.

Which white player do you feel was unfairly excluded?

Dirk Nowitzki's performance was at least as good as Will Smith's.

DeMar, DeMarcus, LaMarcus, LeBron.

Who cares...
Teams seem to barely take the regular season seriously now, let alone the all star game!

The best white players will probably destroy these spoiled African Americans with proper training. They have been propped up by the fake jews.

Gordon Hayward?

It's a subjective system, which it should be, and I don't necessarily have an issue with the players selected, but...
With that said, Hayward, Love, JJ, Porzingas, Dirk, and Marc Gasol, all have arguments to be included in the game. I'm sure I'm missing one or two as well.

Good point, forgot about Marc Gasol

I would put Pau in, before Marc.

Who cares. In case you haven't noticed the NBA is 75% Black.

it's a 6 ft 6 league anymore.

Good...I like to see the best, whoever they might be, but it should be this way throughout society. No more affirmative action in academia, business, contracts etc. Let the best rise to the top unimpeded. Makes for a better society.

So the wealthy Argentinian athletes who've been in state-sponsored training programs since they were 10 can't afford the "proper training" provided to inner city high school American black kids on the playground? At least make a coherent argument you fucking moron.

The NBA must be conscious of this issue and is stuck in a tough spot on the PR front.
The top players of NBA teams and majority of players are black.
Fair or not the majority of season ticket holders and sponsors aren't black.
I'm a major fan of hockey, baseball ,soccer and (lastly) football.
I played some youth league basketball as a kid but sucked , so moved into sports I could play well.
It my OPINION, the NBA has a street , hip hop culture which may be due to the background and culture of most in the league.
The NBA has talented athletes and is a successful sports league.
I'm not much of a fan for the reasons posted above.
If your favorite sports are hockey and baseball and your least favorite are football and basketball, you might be a racist. Please do not announce these views publicly as it may lead to job termination or public shaming. Please check your white privilege at the country club entrance.
-
DeBron, LaBron, LeMarcus, DaMarcus, Dindumar
-
I would have had Pau Gasol in there for the East. Gasol missed out on a starting nod by only 360 fan votes. Who the fuck wants to see Paul Milsap?
Much like the Oscars, the NBA has a serious diversity problem.
-
LOL , whatever .... ;D ;D ;D
I grew up in NH, where hockey is huge and I sucked at basketball.
If I grew up in England or Brazil , I might have devoted my efforts to soccer?
FYI, my favorite sport to participate in was as a track sprinter.
I wasn't world class but had a PR of 10.68 in the 100m in college.
Yes, most of the guys I ran against in the finals were black.

How many of your 9 wives were black?, you need to step up....
-
10.68 is pretty quick for the 100...
10.68 in the mid-80's would've made him an NCAA D2 National champion. I suspect wife number one was holding the stopwatch and the official records were destroyed in the divorce settlement.

LOLOLOLOLOLOL,
porzingis? lololol
He is avg 14 and 8 on horrid shooting for a big man, 42% from the field, 32% from three, these are below average, Pau has more of a case then marc or porzingis, horford as well.
You are knicks homer? ;D
-
Porzingis is still a rookie, doing great for a rookie but I wouldn't vote him in the all star game this year.
-
should be at least 1 white token starter.... i'm boycotting. :'( :'( :'( :'( :'( :'(

I'm talking about professional players in the USA. They were once kids on the playground and were selected by fake jews to prop them up as role models to the society.
My point is whites can be very good at basketball as has been proven in the past. They are overlooked in the USA as part of the anti-white agenda. They have now brainwashed most white kids to believe they have no chance to play professional basketball.
Yet in other countries whites play basketball and if they received training and financing as the professional players in the USA receive I would not be surprised if they beat them consistently.
Take an all white team with a white coach against an all black team with a black coach. I'd like to see the results.
Blacks in the USA have been propped up by the fake jews in basketball who own most of the NBA teams.

It's no more complicated than what Malcolm Gladwell says: You need 10,000 hours to become proficient at something. Do the math, Einstein. In the US, white kids go to school, do their homework, play rec sports and video games and get jobs when they're 15 or 16. Black kids skip out of school, spend 6-8 hours a day on the basketball court and don't need to be home at 6pm for family dinner. Black kids are better basketball players in the US simply because they play 2-5x as much as white kids. The same exact reason why white kids are better tennis players in the US. Your anti-white conspiracy theories reek of low IQ in-bred Wisconsin Stormfront threads. Are you related to Steven Avery by any chance?

Porzingis is still a rookie, doing great for a rookie but I wouldn't vote him in the all star game this year.
He isn't the best player on the team and they aren't in the playoffs, he received zero votes, anyone who thinks he is an all star this year doesn't know basketball, at all. JO and KAT are playing better as rookies.
-

I guess you havent seen any Knicks game with Porzingis playing? He has a much smalle role on his team then KAT and JO on his team is number 1 option in his team in offence. Knicks doesnt play on him at all, its a wonder that he got such stats... That bearded moron Fisher doesnt do shit, they are playing only Anthony and Afflalo in offence and Afflalo surely sucks, but seems that it doesnt matter.
And in defense Porzingis > KAT + JO

Only white guy who i think COULD have made it was Kevin Love. He is having a better year than last year. But, the NBA is a black man's game now. And the white groupies LOVE it!

I've seen Real Housewives of Groupieville and they all look black to me. But one thing you've taught me Mike is that a black guy really doesn't care about getting a chick pregnant. It's like a total lack of self control or concern about the future. It costs many NBA, NFL and MLB players their entire fortune but hey, raw no pulling out is totally worth it for that split second of pleasure.

Racism ???
-
Racism ???
Like some sort of systemic racism? Like do the owners and coaches have a bias towards black players? Is it harder for whites to make it in the NBA and NFL because of their skin color?
-
I see NOTHING wrong with the % of any ethnic group dominating a sport, PROVIDED everyone gets a fair shot.
There used to be a larger % of blacks in big league baseball then today.
There used to be a lot more white stars in the NBA 30-40 or more years ago.
Are whites getting a fair shot?
-
I think that modern pro sports is the one place where race has minimal impact on the game.
Hmm, that's an interesting point of view.
-
I honestly don't think race affects the outcome of the actual game.
BUT, when it comes to marketing and PR, that's a different matter.
Game results = objective performance
Marketing and ads = PR and image
2 very different things.
Do you think most of the owners feel it is better for their image to have mostly black players? One poster said he feels that he can't relate to the NBA because it is too " hip hop". ???
-
10.68 is pretty quick for the 100...
considering the 1980 olympic 100 metre winning time was 10.25 , i'd say 10.68 for a college kid around that time would have been considered very much world class potential.
-
Racism ???
Obviously. They are being held back.
Pau Gasol was a mere 360 votes away from a starting spot. I think he was edged out by Marshmallow Anthony. With the fan vote being that close Pau should have been picked over Paul Milsap.
-
Racism is a one way street. Sports like hockey and swimming are racist. Basketball and Football are not. Oscars are racist. Grammys are not. Republicans are racist. Democrats are not.

Basketball sucks. Everything is a foul. Pansy sport.
-
C'mon, it's just more of a skill game then hitting sports .
I don't enjoy it because they score all the time.
The skill game I like to watch is baseball.
Of course , NOTHING takes as much character and courage as going mano- o -mano flexing in a thong :D
Skill? They are all so tall. Hoop is not that far away. Shitty sport.
-
Porzingis is still a rookie, doing great for a rookie but I wouldn't vote him in the all star game this year.
isn't he the next Great White Hope?

I found this, good food for thought?
Don't ask me. I've said similar stuff to this and to the stuff you said in this before. I pointed all of this out to the OP no more than 2 weeks ago. It's extremely obvious that there's a difference between racial imbalances in sports and racial imbalances in almost any other field. Like I've said before, most professional sports teams are majority owned by whites, majority coached by whites, most execs and admin are white. Like I've said before, professional athletics is probably the most pure meritocracy there is. Like I've said before, you can google a dozen thinkpieces on how people think the "hip hop NBA" is alienating white fans. There is nothing systemic keeping whites from making it in the NBA. The OP makes this odd comparison between the entertainment industry and professional sports, ignoring the fact that none of the underlying causes are the same. They are literally in direct opposition.
-
LOL, ok, I asked for it being getbig .
I was NH high school state champ back in 1976.
I won the 100yd outdoor and 60 yd indoor.
My best HS times were : 60 yd in 6.50 sec indoor and 100 YARDS in 9.95 sec ( outdoor)
I ran Div III college track for a couple years at Plymouth State in NH.
My avg time in the 100m was 10.8 - 10.9 ( hand time) which = around 11.0 with F.A.T .* ( fully automatic time)
Plus, it's possible we may have a little tailwind that day and they didn't use a wind gauge since it wasn't a championship meet
My 10.68, was at an AAU meet on the U Mass ( Amherst ) track in 1979 before I went into the USMC.
I ended up 3rd behind a well known NE sprint champ named Farnsworth from Fitchburg State* who ran
10.59 that day . I was only a meter or so behind Farnsworth, so I knew I ran fast that day. Another guy leaned me at the tape and ran about the same time as me. http://www.fitchburgfalcons.com/sports/wtrack-out/records/all-americans
Since it was hand timed with a digital stop watch, that means it rounds to a 10.7 plus ( aprox ) 0.15 to convert to F.A.T. which gives me a legit 10.85 ( aprox.) by modern standards.
The only time I ever broke 22 sec in the 200m was a relay split those aren't always 100% legit .
My best in that was 22.25 sec.
That's what I did as a sprinter and where it happened. Like bodybuilding I did my thing and never won a major title , so it really doesn't mean much to anyone else. I'm proud of what I did and if getbig wants to call BS, so be it.
Howard, I wasn't saying you didn't run 10.68, I was legitimately saying that a legal 10.68 is really pretty darn fast.
-
isn't he the next Great White Hope?
We shall see.
-
Have not watched since the powers that pussed out started allowing palming the ball, carrying the ball and travelling. The NBA is for idiots now.

Strange how you post a link to someone else's obscure school record but nothing from your D3 alma mater Plymouth State. Where's the beef?

BS...
Only white people in the NBA are owners, everything else is hebrew... yea, maybe there are more white head coaches, but there is for every team multiple black assistant coaches...
I watch Knicks games beacause of Porzingis and in part time show almost 90% there is a black entertainer...
If you always cry for racism and lack of diversity why wouldnt NBA put any white player in the all star game, it isnt like everyone of them couldnt be replaced by a white player...
In every field you need to know somekind of skills and knowledge, just like in sports, so companies choose best/smartest people who are usually white or asian, but we always hear that it isnt fair.
-
Good post Al .
I'll admit, that the NBA seems to have moved to a more hip hop/street /rap culture? ???
In fact, a little of that has crept into the NFL as well.
Again, I use the word culture more then race because (for me) it comes to acting with class and dignity.
Legends like Jordon , Bill Russell and Shaq are obviously black , but their IMAGE was one of dignity and class.
Compare them to a guy like Allen Iverson. Yes, he was a great player, but to me , he had a rapper thug IMAGE/persona that glorified ghetto, criminal behavior.
Has hardcore bodybuilding evolved into a renegade, street/drug dealer/tattoo kind of culture ???
The popularity of guys like Rich Piana and Gregg Valentino might be a clear indication of that.
Rich's persona and 5% label seem to be quite popular with ( mostly) younger gym rats.
For me, the more street/hip hop/tattoo /renegade , a sport's culture get , the less I get into it.
THAT ( for me) is a LOT more important then the race of the people involved.
The ghettoization of entertainment and sports is sickening. Speaking colloquially ebonically...it beeze dum 'n' sheit.
No matter the color thereof.
-
Being successful at basketball requires more skill, perception, and athleticism than any other professional sport. Ever seen someone that has never played before try and shoot a basketball or dribble in a functional, cognitive way? No. The requisite technique required to become seamless in these attributes requires extremely intense focus, work and discipline to be succussful at. With that said, obviously a player with physical strengths is going to have an advantage on someone with average physical gifts, and can in fact makeup for his/her skill shortcomings enough that they can still become mildly successful. Real skill will always win out though, especially the higher the level of basketball being played is at. Basketball truly is a beautiful sport, that in my opinion is the most least appreciated sport in the states.
-
What an ass hat of a thread...

Wrong. Most management and operations staff for the Knicks are white. That's probably the case with most- if not all- NBA and NFL teams.
Most people don't get their jobs because they are the best. Most people get their jobs because they are plugged into a relevant network. Most blacks in management and operations for the Knicks are former Knicks.
Once again, what is keeping American whites out of basketball? Nothing. Pro sports, unlike most other working environments, is almost entirely numbers based.
-

What is keeping american blacks out of programming for twitter. Lack of knowledge... but still they cry that twitter doesnt employ enough blacks. Same with Oscar nominations and the list goes on.
I have nothing against that in NBA most of the players are blacks, but if they want equality then there should be equality for whites too. Not when there isnt enough blacks they will cry about racism and lack of diversity, but when NBA is 90% blacks then there is no need for diversity or nothing.
But I understand what it is... they dont want equality or diversity, they just want to get more jobs just because of their skin color not knowledge, "lack of diversity" is just a way to get them.
Its easy to spot, example - every black celebrity has to say something bad about Stacey Dash because she has a opinion which is different from majority of blacks. Its pure ignorance or just a smart way to fuck over liberal idiots. Idk which of it.
-
Skipped ahead.
Are white people boycotting the game?
-
There will be no whites in Toronto for the game. We as white folk will not stand for this obvious and blantant biggotry. Racism is still very much alive and well in the United States of America. Peace be to everyone. #whitelife4life
-
There are thirty (30) teams in the NBA. There are twenty-nine (29) white owners. There is one (1) black owner. Any time the white kids wish to take the ball and go home, the game will be over.

Is Blake Griffin black ?

No, you don't get it, but you think you do. There are black programmers, but even aside from that, twitter employees aren't exclusively programmers. Even outside of the tech divisions, twitter isn't a diverse company. Few minorities other than asians and few women. This is due DIRECTLY to their recruitment practices. Like I said in my previous post, in most industries people find jobs based on the networks they are plugged into, not necessarily because they possess amazing skill. You've posted this stupid NBA comparison multiple times and it's just that... stupid.

I was flipping through the channels and came across college basketball. Holy shit, basket is a horrible, shit sport.
Team A goes down the court, charges the hoop, foul. Team B gets the ball back, charges the hoop, foul. Team A gets the ball back, charges the hoop, foul.
My god, what a shit, boring sport. How can anyone watch this garbage? Absolutely, no basketball is being played. Just free throws. By far, the worst sport to watch.

Equal opportunity doesn't always end up with equal results.
BOOOOOOOMMMM!!!

I'll admit, I know little of Twitter or other tech companies hiring practices.
But, I'm pretty sure they want the BEST possible people working for them.
I don't see any conspiracy to keep white guys out of the NBA nor do I see any credible plan to keep blacks from working for tech companies...
In the end I see no racial conspiracy in the NBA or in the Tech sector.
Firstly, you just said you knew little about Twitter's and other tech companies' hiring practices, so how would you even be able to make an informed opinion on whether or not there's a conspiracy? Even if there was very clear evidence of a conspiracy, you just said you knew little about the subject. Would anyone expect someone who has no knowledge of a particular subject to have any relevant insights on that subject?
Secondly, I've never made the argument that there is a CONSPIRACY and most people who are proponents of workplace diversity don't talk about conspiracies. What we do acknowledge is the persistence of an environment that perpetuates a closed, exclusive network.
Let me add that the lower % of blacks working in tech companies is "proof" of racist hiring , is flawed.
That would be like saying the low % of white's in the NBA is "proof" the league has a racial bias for blacks.
Equal opportunity doesn't always end up with equal results.
This is the mistake many make when it comes to race and policy.
They wrongly assume that an equal shot will, by default, give an equal result.
Tech companies want results , just like pro sports teams.
No, it wouldn't and that has been the point I have been trying to make for this entire thread. I would love to make a long-assed post about this, but I feel like on this board, the longer your post, the less likely it is to be read and understood, so I will try to make some points with a reasonable degree of brevity.
Look at this chart:
These are the results of a survey that was run by Inc. magazine about how and when people get their jobs. Different sources have conducted similar polls and studies and the results have mostly been similar. I can't find it now, but one studied showed that 60% or upper middle class jobs are never publicly advertised because they are filled in-house or by referrals. So, if a business is mostly populated by one type of worker and those workers' social circles are populated by one type of acquaintance, then the cycle of one type of worker within a closed network is perpetuated. So that blows up the idea of "equal opportunity." It also blows up the idea of only hiring the best possible people. This is the opposite of how pro sports works. Pro-athletes are actively and aggressively recruited. People don't get to play in the NBA because of who they are friends with. The idea that the general work force is made up of people who got their jobs because they were the best and brightest is generally a myth. These are just a few MORE of the reasons a comparison between pro sports and almost every other profession makes no sense.

shut the fuck up you monkey.

Howard is faster than Levrone then?

Dear Al,
I must give you credit for posting such a well organized and thoughtful post.
The deal is, we now live in an era where a black man can be elected to the highest office in the land.
THUS, no official policy can stop anyone who figures out how to deal with the system and work hard.
Bias , prejudice and personal opinion will always have a roll in society so long as humans make the decisions.
I simply do my best to judge people as individuals within my own human flaws.
All the best to you.
LOL well, it looks like we've reached the point where it's easier to double down on "you know what you know" and bowing out instead of looking at info that might open up your perspective. It is what it is.
For the record, there have always been high-achieving blacks and there always will be. There's a huge gap between "no official policy" and "equal opportunity". It's great that you do your best to judge people as individuals. It really is. What that has to do with systemic imbalances in education and employment, I don't get. ???

Ever notice how white bodybuilders try to appear black for the Mr Olympia contest?
That's not some weird coincidence year after year. The judges are awarding a certain "look" if you know what I mean.

Well l, I honestly believe everyone has a shot today to climb to the highest level .
Obama and Clinton did it and were both raised within avg income households.
In my experience and OPINION, nobody gives anyone anything in this life .
Things aren't always fair and people can have bias and prejudice, etc.
In my PERSONAL judgment, everyone has a shot, and that's the best it's going to be in the real world.
Just remember , equal opportunity doesn't guarantee equal results
.
Thanks, Dr.Phil. I feel much better now.

There's a difference between your personal judgment and the way things actually are, though. We see all the time that people are handed things in this life. You keep repeating "equal opportunity doesn't guarnatee equal results" but continue to ignore that the equal opportunity part doesn't exist. Like I said, it is what it is. When someone is committed to seeing something a particular way, facts don't really get in the way. Of course, you're probably thinking that about me LOL

I am both of these things, but a different poster posted this.

Al, c'mon now we're on getbig. :D
All I know is that since the dawn of civilization , men have fought wars over many different things.
One group wins and another is vanquished.
In the history of mankind, "might makes right" with a few notable exceptions .
The real Golden rule has always been, those who have the GOLD make the rules.
Things are never going to be 100% fair in any human society and that's just life my friend.
If that's your personal opinion, "Life isn't fair, that's how it's always been, those who have the gold make the rules", then that's fine. You're entitled to your opinion. But when you try to claim that a majority black NBA is just like a majority white corporation or that corporations only hire the best or that a country having a black president means that the entire employment sector is balanced and equitable... man, that's just not factual. If you want to resort to "my opinion is this, this is how I feel", then fine. I can't tell you how what you're entitled to feel. But if you want to talk about facts and make false equivalencies, then I will explain to you why they are not apt comparisons.
