Markus' training in that DVD was the most intense I've EVER seen, far surpassing Ronnie, Dennis James, Markus Ruhl, Dorian Yates, etc, etc. And I've seen them all.
In the DVD Mentzer was a shadow of his former self and looked like nothing compared to Markus. The interesting thing is, Mentzer at his prime was way ahead of where Markus will ever be.
what made it so intense, Matt?

By Mike Mentzer?
Michael seems out of sorts....... :-\

it was funny watching the guy's legs twitching like crazy during the leg presses
-
who was the old guy with the pot belly & glasses?
;D
-
Why don't they do the exercises with free weight?
-
FWIW, the gym where that footage is taped, Angel City Gym, closed last week and threw everybody out. :( It was a pretty good gym. Lame.

you forgot to add the slurred language :)

HIT (the way mentzer preached it) is fucking bullshit.

Yeah, and Ray Mentzer was too. Is Markus a competitive bodybuilder?
-
The clip BIX posted gives a good example of Markus' subjective intensity. I've never seen another bodybuilder look that close to death in the gym before. Even King Kamali.
Well the irony is that Mike Mentzer died that very night in his sleep the day they filmed that DVD.

Ray Mentzer, and he was a very sick man. Dialysis three times a week, blood clots. But this man was at one time as strong as ANYBODY. Ask onlyme or max-rep, or vince basille about that.

Div, he died late that very same night.

I liked that leg press machine and I like that pullover machine with the pulldown machine directly facing it. Wish I had that set up at the Planet Fagness where I am forced to train.

HIT (the way mentzer preached it) is fucking bullshit.
It works for a LOT of people including me. His older style where you worked every body part once a week on a Mon, Wed, Fri. split. My only deviation from this is I work out every other day instead of M,W,F. I know couldn't mentally handle his workout every six days thing that he espoused at the end even if I could get great gains from it.

The Nautilus machines keep the resistance on your muscles through the full range of motion which most barbell and dumbell and cable exercises don't. Another big convenience is not taking time to load and unload plates on olympic bars and such. Plus less of a need for spotters.

it was also funny how his knees were a half a foot over his toes

Is he high or something. Sounds 'gorked' when he talks.
