I am pretty sure he has some sort of rights and pays for them.  he has been using it for 20+ years and still does.  So I am pretty sure he has some rights

It is still kinda sad though. Imagine barely clinging to the little bit of fame you enjoyed some 20 years ago.

I can just imagine the younger kids walking by his spot at the comic conventions asking, "Who is this asshole?"
