Title: Shelby GT350
Post by: Dr.J on February 17, 2016, 05:02:30 AM
Got stick up my ass and wanted to add the roush supercharger to my 2015 Mustang GT.  Went to the dealer, saw a black 2016 Shelby GT350.  Drove it, absolutely loved it, traded my GT and got the 350.

Nice! Former Mustang owner here. What was the HP difference between your Roush and the GT?

Trap times in the quarter are slow for the non R. Granted their not set up for quarter mile runs
The Gt350 & R should have come with 4:10's

Ford screwed up the S550 chassis. The stang got heavier and Camaro got lighter

The 6th gen SS already beat the non R on certain laps

Chevy is saying the 6th gen v6 camaro 1le is lapping the same as the 5th gen 1le
The 5th gen 1le put a hurtin on the boss

Im glad Ford stepped up and finally put some rubber on the gt350

Unless your a die hard ford fan I would look at the 6th gen 1le v8

I am impressed with what the voodoo is dynoing with fbo

Hennessey or someone got a voodoo with full bolt ons to dyno 580-620 hp and 480 on the twist at the crank. Impressive

Your coyote has more potential right now than the voodoo.

Two different beast rat....one is a coyote motor muscle car 5.0..this thing is a high reving monster 5.2 flat plane V8.  These cars feel completely different.  Like completely different cars.

My GT felt and sounded like a muscle car.  The GT350 feels like a race car.  They don't handle anyth8ng alike and they have completely different powerbands.  They just look alike.  The GT350 cost twice as much.  I got the track package on the GT350.

I never did install the roush.  I wanted to, went to dealer to see about it and ended up with this one.  I did intall a full 3 inch exhaust, SW long headres.  It sounded great and let the coyote moter breath.   I was already thinking about changing the suspension on my GT and changing the breaking system on it as well.   To do it right, I would of easily spent 20k on the suspension, breaking and supercharger.  The GT has all that and more.  The only thing I am going to do to the GT350 is get it tinted.

I like the gold racing strip (GT350 H)  but that was not an option.

My dilemma is I don't want to do anything to change the price on it.  I know original is the best way to keep a car like this.

All I have done to it is tint it. I do not plan to do any mods as this car basically needs nothing!  Bone stock it is super fun to drive!

Thanks G, I also did contemplate that it is "murdered out"  and that is a nice look all on it's own. I'm in the fence. ..I just like that shelby racing racing stripes cause it "shelby".......but bottom line...it is a Shelby GT350.

No, leave it plain. It looks great as is. I love your description of it.

@BlackMetallic, the Camaro was a porker when it was on the Zeta platform, and now it's on the Alpha one, which is the same one that the Cadillac ATS is on.

Yes
I have been going though family pics trying to find my parents white one but that looks exactly like it. Later they had an AMC Javelin.

Both my parents loved muscle cars and I'm lucky to be alive.  My mom loved to race people at lights.

Sadly she passed away in Dec so this thread made me think of her.

BMW's probably perform about the same as this car. Front Engine and quite heavy.

Audi R8 is more of a supersports car with its mid engine and lightweight aluminum chassis...

1.) r8 is about double the price. Even with the market up.
2.) if you're going to really track a daily driver, people mod the vehicle for that particular application.
3.) Shelby aftermarket and support > Audi R8
4.) Shelby consumables are less $$$ then R8 consumables.
5.) stfu and let the real car men talk.

Car and Driver has the 0-60 at 4.3 seconds. 11.9 quarter mile and 116 MPH trap time. Top speed is a little hard to believe.  I did see a video of it going to 171MPH at the tach appeared to be at 8K.

american muscle cars are pieces of shits tbh

Corvette is alright as far as american goes
And the true comes out, you're just a bitch ass hater.
First of all, we aren't talking reliable daily drivers here. Japanese cars owned Germans and Americans in every way.
You brought up tracks cars. And as a track car Shelby is better then an Audi R8.

0-60 3.5 seconds, 1/4 times low 12s, top speed 186mph

Good on you.
Great looking car.
As for the racing stripe, only you can decide,
For what it's worth, if it was mine I'd consider the
Double silver stripes.
What BHP & Torque figures.
I thought it would of believed it to be quicker over the quarter mile.

Those two times don't really match up. I haven't seen any numbers as fast as 3.5 seconds 0-60. I'm seeing low 4s and 3.9 for the R.

Beautiful fucken car. I love Shelbys. I know a guy who was a security guard for 28 years. Average pay. Saved a bit each paycheque for 28 years just to buy a Shelby and got it in 2012. Was nicer than his house.

Thank you man....and that is cool...28 years....good for him!!!  Mine involved a lot of G4P...but same gratitude at the end..

I don't understand why CVTs haven't replaced stepped boxes.  There's probably a good reason, I just don't know what it is.

some of the newer auto trannies are faster then the manual versions, like the gti and golf r autos.

Seems like CVT is the future. Fewer moving parts. A regular mechanic might be able to repair one of these without having to send it to a "Specialist."

This is it, even the color. It was automatic but, if I remember correctly, it had manual steering. I do remember that it handled very well.

Note the slots in the hood. There are light bulbs in there which are wired to the blinkers, a nice little touch.

Yup....I did not see the sense in it.  I did however get the track package.

The R deletes the rear seat, air conditioner, electronics and radio.  I happen to like all that stuff.  It comes with the cool ass carbon fiber wheels that have the better track tires and they are size bigger (305 in the front and 315 in the rears).

Carbon fiber wheels are not well suited for everyday driving on the streets.   And the bigger and better tires can always be  easily mounted on the current rims if I really feel the need.

A few other little things, but in reality, the track package upgrade was the way to go for me.
