Title: Would you buy?
Post by: kevthekid on February 17, 2016, 05:20:38 PM
Considering buying a wrangler for 2500-2700. It's a 1990 i6 manual with 127K miles and 89K on the rebuilt engine. I gave my brother my other car for school and I need to get another one for cheap. I can't spend more than that because I'm moving out next week and need 600 per month for rent. Would you buy the car if you are in my situation? It will pass inspection and emissions, and it is in pretty good shape considering it's a 20+ year car

not a commuter car. fun for beach or around town, but at that age n mileage you will be paying more for it than th ticket cost. $2500 jeep is basically scrap metal man.

Jeeps are a lot of fun. I had one but bought it brand new. 2500 doesn't seem to costly, better than going into debt for a nicer car.

I call bullshit.
And even if it's true...
When the engine needs a rebuild after like 38K miles...
Nevertheless...
I wouldn't do it.

I LOVE my jeep

the only thing I hate is that apparently other people who own jeeps wave at you just because you also own a jeep

I never wave back

seriously--that's legit "white people shit" right there

that all aside, jeeps are fucking awesome no matter what condition they're in

Fuck yes. Is it the 4.0 engine? My winter rat is a 96 Cherokee. has almost 350k. I bought it with 150k after it has been sitting for years and didnt have any oil. These old jeep engines are incredible.

Well that would depend.  Have you inspected it and found it to be mechanically sound?  Christ almighty.

JNN & Calvin eating popsicles in their respective Wranglers and waving to each other ITT.

I've always got between 6 and 12 jeeps.  I love them.  easy to work on, basic, simple nothing to them. and fun. that 1990 probably has a 4.2liter engine (not sure CI). not my favorite engine, but still fun.

And lol at the waiving part. Stleast hear bikers do that and with bikers i mean middleage men in honda varaderos etc. When i was 16 and was driving my honda ns125r2 with my dad (on his bike) he always reminded me to wave...told him that if he want to look like a fucking idiot its up to him

I have spent a weekend with one. The 2.4i. High fuel consumption vs performance, very very limited offroad on stock form, poor heating hability. It liked how it was so lighweight in comparison with other 4x4's and how it handled like a car. Underpowered but fun to ride.
