Title: Shane O Mac is Back
Post by: Thin Lizzy on February 22, 2016, 06:14:43 PM
Must admit I marked out pretty good for this as did the crowd. What a response!

That said, IMO, the match is wrong. He should be going up against HHH. That match would have an actual story that didn't even need a belt attached. However, as it stands, now, Vince is stuck with a match no one cares about HHH / Reigns, and match that makes no sense Taker / Shane.

Same here!  Shane O Mac brings back old memories and makes things exciting.

Haven't really processed this yet.

Shane back....is this temporary as he is a COO or President of an overseas company.

Are they saying Taker will be a Heel in this match? Let's figure this out, HHH couldn't beat Taker, HBK couldn't beat taker BUT WWE wants us to potentially believe that Shane O Mac can beat him?

As Kevin Sullivan says....there is No QC COntrol

You hit the nail right on the head there Lizzy. No one cares about the so-called main event. Everyone knows Reigns will win. Its so damn predictable that it isn't even worth the paper its printed on.

It's just weird. Is the Undertaker now Vince's buddy/bitch and willing to do his dirty work? What does taker have against Shane, and why would Shane even agree to this as he's the one who supposedly has something on Vince?

I'd be surprised if the match actually goes down this way. The rumor was that Taker's opponent was Cena. Maybe Cena isn't ready and they had throw this together in a hurry.

Anyone remember the match he had with Kurt Angle?? Kurt tried to back flip him into a plexiglass wall....it didn't break and they did it a second or perhaps 3rd time til it did.

I always remember people saying Shane was really one of the boys...

My buddies & I always thought that (one of) the reason(s) Shane did all of that crazy shit back in the day was to gain "street-cred" with the talent when he eventually took over the company.

Apparently, he was very popular backstage. I heard an ex-writer say that everyone wanted be on Shane's team.

Supposedly when Raven/Johnny Polo was in the Fed, Shane and Raven used to hang out alot. Vince would call Shane asking where he was and he would say, hanging out at Raven's apartment..

Shane..
Took a lot a bumps.. back in the day..
Didn't have too..
Was born in to the family business..
He now runs the biggest cable / satellite company in the world..
Weird he is coming back ..
Or at least knows the wwe is fucked with all the injuries..
And they need some firepower to pull this wrestlemania...

I think its just a "one of" appearance. They need to stack the deck. They have no choice. Tickets will not sell if they don't bring in major stars, that said, Shane's bump taking and now vs Undertaker plus its a HITC match to boot? Who knows...still time before the big show and its subject to change. The key question is when are Rollins, Cena and Orton due back ??  ;)

Agreed but lets look at the bigger message...by bringing Shane back they are basically telling the locker room there is no one good enough to face UT that they have to bring in a non-wrestler.

Hell, prior to Shane showing up, I would have Samoa Joe show up and call out the Undertaker..I think it would have been a great brawl and a great way to get Joe to the main roster..

It was great to see Shane return but the match with Taker completely ruined it for me.  I don't see what point it has, there's no story to it, we've not seen Taker in how long, and he's got no problem with Shane?  As someone above said, this is just a last minute emergency call as Cena's not going to be back in time.  Shane can't win the match and return to the WWE as he's got enough going on with his own business, plus this is supposedly Taker's last match in his home state, so I just can't see Shane winning it.

One plus point on Monday night was HHH messing Reigns up at the end, must have bust his nose or something 'cos he was bleeding all over the place.

To be fair, Shane apparently is no longer CEO of that Chinese company (He's only on the board of it) and has been back with the WWE in an executive fashion for a couple of months now as well.

He "could" win it... We shall see.

I'm sure Taker can come back for another Texas match if he so desires.

Oh, and that nose was not busted. It had to be a blood capsule as you can clearly see Saxton handing Reigns something and him doing something under his long hair while it was covering his face.

Where was that as it wasn't shown on Raw?  HHH smacks him into the table a couple of dozen times then the cameras move away to follow HHH as he plays to the crowd.  Saxton had stood and stepped back away from the table with a stack of papers in his hands.  The camera follows HHH back to the table and Roman's then seen bleeding.  If it was capsules then the medics must have given him a second one as there was quite a lot more blood after the pedigree as well.

For what it's worth, Roman had surgery today on his nose, which had been broken previously and needed fixing anyway.

It's not shown on wwe cameras, it shown on video recorded by an audience member behind the announce table.

There's definitely blood capsules available, there was a big thing in the UK a couple of years ago when a rugby player used them to force a substitution during a game, when the team had already used their allocation.

I'd have to go with the capsule theory.

We're not talking about Abdullah the Butcher, here.

It's the top pretty boy baby face. Moreover, from a Corporate image standpoint, I doubt WWE would mess with blades in 2016.

We sold them in the joke & novelty section of our magic shop.

It is essentially a gel capsule filled with artificial blood. You simply bite down and allow the blood to drip from your mouth. Very popular around Halloween.

I believe so.
But, don't quote me on that. I never actually got to ask anyone who did it.

The "mist" in wrestling has always been a liquid that is sprayed from the mouth using the same technique that fire-breathers use. It is very likely that the "load" into the mouth consisted of a capsule.

Of all the original ECW and Japanese wrestlers who came through our promotion years ago, Yoshihiro Tajiri was not among them. I always wanted to sit done after the show and shoot the shit over some beers with him and Sabu. Alas, I never met either one.

Come to think of it, I have no idea why we never contracted Sabu.

Caught Mick Foley on a Podcast. He was asked about his health. The response wasn't good. Sounds like his hips are shot from all the bumps. The guy has some serious mobility issues, the type you'd expect in an elderly person, and he's only 50.

I remember the days when the old man wouldn't play a venue he couldn't sell out - for Wrestlemania, I mean.

There are rumors that they changed locations the year Hogan & Slaughter headlined in favor of a smaller arena to hide the shame of lackluster ticket sales. The public explanation was that it was due to bomb threats made against Sarge.

Apparently the bad guys didn't have directions to the new arena.

I just heard an interview with Dave Meltzer (I think on Austin podcast ) where he said those numbers are for entertainment purposes only. The 93k wasn't a real number, that it was closer to the 80s. All attendance figures are also a work.

Yes.

There are several people/sources to have investigated the WMIII attendance figures.
I've heard different explanations, but they all contend that WWF's boast was a good 10-15k exaggerated.

he is full of shit.

1. if the number was wrong then that means all the other attendance figures around that time at the Silverdome (the pope and the rolling stones if I recall) were also inflated. which would make NO sense at all.

2. this figure of 93173 used to be listed in the Guiness book of world records. I used to have one of the editions containing it.

I am pretty sure they would have done some sort of follow up to validate rather than just take Vince's word.

I would love to see Dave's thoughts on the above two points..

Lol, my thoughts or Meltzer's? I'll see if I can find what podcast I heard this on so I can have it for you. This was just brought up again in reference to the 100k tease for Dallas. The Michigan promoter show Meltzer the actual numbers.

For the record I could care less, it's wrestling VKM and is a showman it wouldn't surprise me he falsified  numbers.  Obviously there's some truth to the rumors as reddit has a thread on itit and there wasn't 10k floor seats at WMIII let alone 15k.

And as far as your 2 points: no one said the silverdome couldnt hold 93k people, the Big House in Ann Arbor would have been able to do that so the silverdome would have been able to. So as far as the pope and stones, why would their numbers be inflated? Again it was never said it couldn't hold 93k, just that WM didn't have that many in attendance. But all things considered I'm sure it was important for those two to have figures close to the  WWF, as both groups have bigger followings. I'm sure they weren't going to be embarrassed by having poor numbers. That comparison doesn't apply in this case.

As far as the GBR, the record should still stand I guess. I'm sure they have a extremely tough vetting process establishing hundreds of thousands of records from the most consecutive rope jumps in 24 hours to whatever stunt David Blaine is doing. VKM beat the FEDERAL GOVERNMENT IN A COURT CASE, I'm sure he could hoodwink the fact checkers at Guiness...

VKM beat the FEDERAL GOVERNMENT IN A COURT CASE, I'm sure he could hoodwink the fact checkers at Guiness...
INTERESTING ...I think any venue or stadium boasting only could be at least partially validated by one being there,i have been to sold out stadium or concert venue shows and when it was said and done you could see empty rows or seats littered about..i guess the presell on sale and somewhat final count is what they go by ...full capacity sold sounds better than there are seats still available...

I'm at a total loss...

With ratings and regular attendance figures the way they are, I am utterly amazed they pulled this off.

Me too, broke down and watched the show. Great feeling watching it with my 8 yr old son BUT thought the show overall was lackluster

Few surprises but nothing that made me say Holy Sh$t

It was a great experience for me watching it with my wife & 4 year old son live..
I'm not a Dallas cowboys fans.. actually hate the cowboys...
But they have a world class state of the art stadium..
It is very impressive..
From the food to the restroom facilities to the chairs you sit in..
It's just amazing place.. wow..
It was packed.. never seen so many people in one place..
I will be eventually attending another wrestlemania in the near future..
Wish it was the attitude era...
But it is what is..

Someone is lying to us, the question is who is more trustworthy?

The answer is we're all getting worked.

Decent show though, I'm glad I  watched it.

Meltzer is lying, or at least misinformed.. and it seems most people agree.

look at the comments in that link. he never reveals specific sources. just spews crap. lol

notice the difference though between "attendance" and "paid tickets sold". there is a difference.

Pontiac silverdome 93,000+

vs

AT and T arena 101,000+:

Not me...after all its WM. Had they come to my town, I'd have bought a ticket too. Why not. Not to many times people can say they've gone to WM. I got lucky and attended 2! Lol
