I've been doing this exercise for the past few months, usually with around 300-400lbs. Works the core really well and helps improve your conventional deadlift.

How exactly does it work your core? By forcing the abs to pull, instead of the erectors?

I'm not sure the mechanics behind the lift, but my abs definitely feel more pumped after a set then they would after doing a standard deadlift. The lower back, upper back and quads gets worked nicely as well. It's awkward at first but once you get used to it, it becomes quite an enjoyable exercise.

How are you built? Huge, obviously, this is GB after all. But structure-wise? I have a very long torso and T-rex arms, so getting down to a regular DL is already very hard for me. Can't imagine havign to grip that low AND behind me.

I'm 6'2ft and around 85kg so fall well into twink status. :D
I've got a good build for deadlifting (I've pulled +240kg) as I got fairly long arms and an average sized torso. If you have a long torso with short arms, then this exercise may not be as effective for you. However, I think you should still give it a go just to try something different.

See, I'm only 5'11" but my torso is so long that when sitting down I tower over everyone at the table. Also a sloppy 255, so my gut will get in the way. :D Will give it a light try tonight, DLed heavy yesterday.

Isn't that what being "Hardcore"'is all about? 8)

No part of me believes that would grow muscle like a properly executed deadlift.

Just a believer in his training philosophy!

Barbell hack squats and reverse deadlifts are not the same. Nobody is doing a barbell hack squat with 225 if you're doing them the right way. Most can't do over 135.

steroid cheaters cant deal with reality

I agree... it's not a "reverse Deadlift". It is not comfortable to perform but it is effective. Steve Reeves attached Hooks to his weight lifting belt. Worked for him.

you have to be careful on the internet
there are lots of anonymous gurus giving advice especially on here
my advice is unless someone has posted pics or even better vids
then just skip their posts
some good stuff on youtube from people who walk the walk

I think that you are mixing "hardcore" and "stupidity"..

Well if you walk the walk and talk the talk then take your own advice and post the 500lb bench. Or are you an anonymous Guru?
