Fact: Most Americans have no idea how gas prices are set.
Their opinions on who is to blame when prices are high or who to thank when prices are low are usually made out of ignorance.

Gas was $1.80 when Obama took office. It's back there now. After being in the 4's for a while.

I don't think the president has anything or much to do with gas prices.

If he's responsible for lower oil prices he would also have to be responsible for the sacking of hundreds or even thousands of US jobs as new oil projects are mothballed because they aren't viable anymore.
Or more likely Saudi Arabia are driving the price down to punish Russia for backing Assad, stop US shale projects starting, and being pissed at Iran having sanctions lifted.
I've read that they might have to do something drastic like introduce income tax! Shock/horror.

And this.
That said it's beyond mere coincidence that price levels are drastically lower during election years (although the current prices have been relatively stable for over a year).
What's amazing is that during an era of extreme corporate greed (and that also might not be completely true, corporations may not actually be more greedy than ever its the public is more informed) oil companies are willing to sacrifice their record profits simply based on an abundance of their supply.

yes but he can have a direct effect on insurance premiums if he happens to put in place a poorly planned bill that causes such premiums to skyrocket. In just over 4 years the amount I pay for my family has almost doubled.

But it's okay though, I just didn't understand before that it was our civic duty since we have a combined income of over 100k we should have to do that we may make it more reasonable for those who don't work. Don't get me wrong if it helps those who can't work I'm ok with it but there's a whole lot of turds out the who can but wont

Gas is the greatest affront to American capitalism!
