Title: Keeping Blood Sugar Levels Stable During the Night
Post by: Jenetics on February 29, 2016, 05:20:03 AM
Most nights I awake within a couple of hours after falling asleep absolutely ravenous, craving sugary foods. I cannot get back to sleep until I have filled my face with sugary carbs! I realise that cutting down my carbs during the day could help stabilise blood sugar through the night, but does anyone have any other tips? It is really troublesome having this problem, especially whilst cutting. I have tried taking chromium before bed, but without success.

Something is wrong with you.  What medications, drugs or alcohol are you taking?

I have the same problem. I sometimes have trouble sleeping because I have low bodyfat and i just keep getting up pissing like i have nothing left on me to burn to get to sleep.

When you train hard you just burn so much up. Just eat before you go to bed to help you sleep. I don't find eating excess carbs good i just store it. I feel and look far better eating 'junk' like fast food or Ice Cream, not that i don't eat clean but not all the time.

Just to add, vitamins are great but they aren't food. They aren't calories.

Ask a physician, not GetBig.
This sounds a little bit serious.

Yes ask someone who has never trained in their life, who deals with normal people all the time who eat normal things and treat their bodies normally aka like shit.

I asked one once. He was 'Oh shouldn't you eat more fresh foods and fruits'. No MF, i train hard i burn everything off and you learn what you learn from a fucking book.

He's issue could be a whole host of other medical conditions, not linked to exercise.

Why ask for advice when you already know it could be corrected through improved diet?

Also, I thought chromium picolinate was one of the supplements people should avoid if diabetic or having any symptoms related to blood sugar.

No no. Not that severe. I got dizziness after training, had trouble standing on my feet. Like drunk.

Maybe it caused me a big insulin spike, and combined with blood sugar fluctuations after pumping the weights, gave me hipoglicemia. Just guessing.
I seriously believe you should stop the diet until you get normal, and them start to cut very very slowly and get in tune with how much you can be deprieved of carbs.
When i diet i never cut the carbs, just cut the fats/oils to near zero if possible. Cutting carbs doesn't work for me.

I like to keep a bit of kendal mint cake unwrapped next to my bed on the dresser. Upon waking in the night, I just turn my head and nibble on it like a cockatoo on a cuttlefish bone.

Keeps my blood sugar nicely balanced 24/7.
