Summed up in a few words: better genes, better use of drugs, better training, less food.

As temporary as it was, Vince's WBF made Weider raise the stakes when it came to contracts and prize money.

Less money involved.
Hence only la crème de la crème would achieve excellence on a few shots of steroids per week.
Today, money buys every possible imaginable hormone ever made, transforming average muscle building genes in something worth looking at.

Early 90's? I think bodybuilding reached its peak in the late 90's because computers became a household item. People did not have to wait for magazines, forums opened up, more information became available and faster. People could now buy steroids online which sparked more interests.

Now, steroids are commonplace . The Jersey Shore Douche Bag body type is what women expect. Looking at a bodybuilder is not a shock anymore. No big deal.

STAY POSITVE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Look up "the 90's curse" by John Romano. It explains it rather well.

Less drugs is not why either, quite the opposite and is why we're not seeing what we once saw.

I'm going to say it's more political than anything. The IFBB is run like a ill-run communist party where there's just a few guys stuffing their pockets at the demise of society (IFBB).

The shot callers stopped caring about what the people or the bodybuilders want. So people stopped paying attention.

Internet changed everything. Only world class schmoes and homo's can get into this cult "sport" these days. A guy with the internet can't claim he didn't know it was a gay sport anymore.
