One of those rare, magical foods that can make almost everything better.
Yeah, sort of like bacon and cheese.
There are very few things that bacon can't be added to. The shit goes good even with some candies and chocolate. I have self control, so I eat it sparingly and usually have it in my crib.
I make a homemade salad dressing with avocados.
-
I love them
I try to have 1 per day
1 a day prevents oral cancer and has all the amino acids
It's hard to find a perfect one sometimes
Here on the east coast the advocadoes seem to be good this week

No doubt about it. Bacon and cheese are both delicious. Butter is also a food/food item that improves almost everything.

With a little salt and lime juice, I can eat avocado slices alone, but they are definitely better eaten along with something else. Much like butter!

Love making some homemade guacamole.

Yup. $4 for 5 at Costco this week - and they are all good ones.

$3.50 each here. ::) Which is hard to justify. Eat only occasionally but love 'em. Will grow one day along with the other expensive awesome As - asparagus and artichokes.

I have two trees. already blooming in a couple months will be filled with them. More than any one person could ever eat so I start giving them away, I'm pretty sure my landscaper steals a bunch because he seems to give extra care to those two trees more than anything else in my backyard.

Jor avocado avarice shall be jor undoing, Don Blanco. Let these fruits be equitably shared amongst the humble people of the pueblo. Ride Zorro of the Orchard! Ride!

Was going to suggest to NYers to try the Dominican avocados if they've never tried them. I don't know if they are available in parts of the country that don't have large Hispanic/Latino populations. Haas has most of the US on lock.
The Domincan avocados are larger and generally cheaper, but they are not quite as creamy. One major advantage is that you can usually use them as soon as you pick them up from the store. You don't have to wait up to a week for them to ripen.

a week? Once I pick an avocado it sometimes takes a month to ripen. At times I have plan way ahead and put in the groups of when I picked or else they all ripen at once.

Can't you put it in a paper bag to speed up the process?

There's all sorts of tricks like a half apple or even bags you can buy that speed up ripening. Why rush nature?
