Title: Should new registrations be auto-approved?
Post by: Nether Animal on March 10, 2016, 03:58:49 AM
As in, like 99% of other online message boards?

Here is Getbig's newest member: http://www.getbig.com/boards/index.php?action=profile;u=89375

Yes, you read that right. December 28th. And even if one were to bring up the fact that the registration date is static, this has been GB's "newest member" for at least a week if not more.

Gimmicks 'gon gimm anyway, and obviously Ron is too busy to handle the approval process on his own. One user who complained a while back elucidated how it took him four separate tries to get an account activated, and the three other accounts were simply never approved. The backlog must be huge, since whoever handles it obviously gave up moderating it chronologically and just picks and chooses (via what protocol?) - the entire system is far too obtuse and cryptic.

Thank you in advance for clarifying.

Within minutes, Joon's stable of running gimmicks would bulge into the hundreds.

That's odd.  I got approved no problem at all.

I can't remember how long it took back then, I don't remember it being too long.

I think you are overestimating the capacity of a select few troublemakers, who can easily be handled on the other end as opposed to inconveniencing everybody else pursuant to the current system.

And I'm not just talking about minor aggravation. We are talking about a nigh-useless registration system in its current state. People talk about how tame/boring and comparatively "dead" GB is nowadays, and I believe this is the biggest contributing factor.

Give me a valid reason why there is a three month-plus gap with no new members approved. You can't.

We require all registrants to do three months of diaphragm control training prior to approval so they don't puke every time they read the Jodi Miller thread.

if I had to put on a thong, set my self in the crosshairs of organ failure, schmoism, strange dudes taking pictures and marketing them on underground funboy sites

just for stars

they should have to at least be able to deadlift 405 and/or be able to handle the wrath of _aj_

Maybe someone wants Getbig to die.
Instead of terminate the forum overnight and be called a "bad" guy for doing it, a slow death (by not allowing fresh meat in the forum) would take the guilt away from him.
Just guessing.
