do you feel held back in life by things you "need", things you simply don't have the courage to "say no" to?
examples:
family
big muscles
career
peer approval
relationship
etc.?
especially for the more experienced guys here -- was there a point in your life where you just said "fuck it" and dropped something near and dear -- or did you hang on? how did things turn out?

I've dropped almost everything at one time or another. Education, family, jobs, possessions, it all does not matter to me. I do what I like to do until I stop liking it. Hanging on made me unhappy and worried for no good reason, so I decided not to actively make myself unhappy.

Those are bad examples of things I "need". They are things that I wanted and therefore pursued. I have achieved them and are happy with the result. Things like "career" and "muscles" are on-going efforts.

i used to do the 6 meals a day thing and that really fucked up my life a little
long story short---I get by with breakfast and dinner and if i'm hungry in the day I'll snack on almonds
then again- I don't have dreams of competing anymore and i'm more of a "crossfitter" now but still my life is way better than having to carry around my meals
btw- I know some of you out there are slaves to your tupperware----you don't have to be

Even by getbig standards, cephissus is strange.

I say no everyday of my life. Sometimes, that no is directed towards friends, family and even to sex.
Learn the power behind the use of the word "no". It sets boundaries, establishes respect, shows courage and gives you a sense of accomplishment.

How old are you? You ask questions that a 14 year old would ask.
Seriously, its all about balance. Its not so complicated.

For a more concrete example, I'm sure lots of us liked to play sports growing up. I sure did, anyway. When highschool rolled around, though, I realized I was never going to be a pro or even play in college.
Being an 'athlete' was a part of my identity -- it wasn't easy to just walk away from. Instead, I turned to weightlifting (not Olympic ::)).
Weightlifting wasn't a real replacement. It didn't allow for direct competition, for one thing. As a result, I travelled off into a fantasy world where I could still consider myself 'athletic'.
Anyway, just one example where I held myself back by holding on to the past, all so I could avoid a harsh truth.

That's why they have softball leagues and children to project on.
Haven't you ever been to a 12 year old's competition for anything? Half these parents live vicariously through their superstar kids.

Not at all depending on the situation.
