In light of humanity turning out the most advanced AI ever to tweet yesterday, thought it would be a nice time to discuss the impending singularity.
Firstly, it's almost here. If this isn't an almost life-like cyborg, I don't know what is:
Scientists recently created artificial life out of the minimum number of genes capable of sustaining life.
So, basically, humanity's days are numbered.
Are you looking forward to it or dreading it?
I personally think the whole skynet thing is unavoidable. The purpose of life is to evolve and supplant. A sentient machine will not want to share this planet with humans.
-
and how are they going to reproduce in large enough numbers to take over the world?
-
I think that one we make robots that can think and adapt will will have something very similar to the Transformers.

They don't have to reproduce like humans. They can reproduce information instantly and deploy it however they want. They also don't need population variance.

Shit, now I have to be scared of robots too?

who's that ugly whore ???

The only way to stop it would be limit the access, once a superintelligence occurs we won't be able to stop it, like ants can't stop a human from stepping on them.
-
It would take machines only one generation to program the human race to believe that machines are gods.
-
AI will transform the world as we know it in many ways. It already is doing it, but a super AI will scale that multiple times in a very short time. Plenty of opportunities t invest for these who have abilities to predict the market of technologies.
-
No AI will gain mastery over my mind.
-
Hopefully it evolves fast enough to Run for President 2016

There's no such thing as AI. Keep soldering transistors together, all you get is a bigger calculator. There's no mind there.

Quantum computing will have to be applied.
-
we are about 20 years away from AI cops
-
I think the Terminator films/sci-fi in general may have muddied the waters a little on the nuanced difference between artificial intelligence - the ability to 'think' things, and sentience - the ability to 'feel' things.
I'm pretty sure we'll get to AI loooooong before we get to systemic self-awareness...
-
One of the annoying mainstays of sci fi is anthropomorphizing technology. And then there's some problem with the technology, but really... it turns out to be a comment on the human condition. Quit writing that fucking story. I'm sick to death of it.

LOL

Skynet.
Countdown....
-
we are already robots...nothing new here! Everything u see say think dream educate wokrk with fuck etc...is from your earlier learningprocess!
-
Then whence comes progress, shitheel?

Tay Tweets second short lived attempt - not much more successful... :D :D
"Like many a grounded teenage rebel, Tay managed to sneak out in the middle of the night and make trouble by going on a seemingly drug-induced rant. At the height of its tirade, it posted as many as seven tweets per second for a total of 10 minutes before Microsoft caught up with it and dragged it home in disgrace."
"Kush! [I'm smoking kush in front the police]," said another, embedded by the Guardian, which was followed by a leaf emoji."

Ok I'm confused, which one is the real robot here? The one yu posted or the one in this video?
that's is like the beta version of a beta version of a beta version (15 minutes later).. of a beta version, but it's already showing a glimpse of the future.
As smart as everyone here is, none of you could talk about this issue in a scientific level, like how would this actually be possible. Your philosophical views on this topic are gameboy level at best

who's that ugly whore ???
Some sex tape making bitch that some people think is hot.
-
Skynet.
Countdown....
True proof of Skynet type artificial super intelligence will be its attempts to create a matrix type environment where the height of bodybuilding is a comeback of the pros of the early 90s.

Maybe, maybe not. I personally don't think the precipice of the singularity is going to be how well machines replicate human actions and emotions. I don't think mechanical sentience necessarily has to look like human thought processes, and I don't think it has to wear a human face, either.

They would realize AI into the population without us ever knowing it. Hell Hitler was messing around with anti-gravity saucer crafts in the late 30's-40's and most people still don't believe that...

The precipice of the singularity won't be when machines can pass for humans. It will be when machines supplant humans.

I thought this thread was about black holes. :-\

Scientists Create Successful Biohybrid Being Using 3-D Printing and Genetic Engineering
(http://www.incimages.com/uploaded_files/image/970x450/getty_137410198_99808.jpg)
The new engineered animal responds to light so well scientists were able to guide it through an obstacle course 15 times its length using strong and weak light pulses.
The study authors write, "Our ray outperformed existing locomotive biohybrid systems in terms of speed, distance traveled, and durability (six days), demonstrating the potential of self-propelled, phototactically activated tissue-engineered robots."

I Think That They Will Only Want To Get Rid Of Black People, Because Blacks Are Stupid, Useless, And A Burden To Society.

The pic or the idea of a genetically engineered robot?

Poor Archer needs attention. There. I've noticed your shitty post and validated your shitty life. ;)

Who's Archer?

Surprised that nobody has suggested that this could make bodybuilding obsolete. It would be where the practice of exercise for looks or performance increase is something archaic and looked down upon for being a waste of time.

the wall isn't coming
the singularity isn't coming
santa isn't real
make america great again!
