Title: pros and cons of saying good bye
Post by: Rami on April 06, 2016, 12:05:32 PM
What is some of the reasoning behind peoples decision to make a "good bye" thread as they plan to leave getbig?

Is it to let us know not to worry, that this is a planed leave and they didn't just die off.

Is it a gesture of normal curtsy and decency?

Does it give them a personal psychological closure of a fantastic chapter of their life?

Maybe we could learn something from discussing this?

Nobody cares for them, even on getbig, so they have to proclaim a "hurtful" departure.
Some do it, of course, to get a rise out of other posters.

True story, Craig Titus is both a pro and a con.

Making departure statements can be done for many different reasons. Unfortunately, on Getbig they often come across as something negative and bitter sounding. I'm a big believer in the phrase "never say never" because it is impossible in most cases to know what lies ahead. It seems pathetic when someone frequently claims they are leaving and don't follow through, at least not indefinitely. This type of person appears to be crying for help as if saying, beg me to stay so I can feel needed.

As is frequently said here, when someone leaves, they are most often quickly forgotten or just remembered for their outrageous posts of aberrant behavior.

It's basic etiquette.  How do you leave a party?  Slap the hostess on the ass and walk out with the potato salad?

Bunch of ruffians around here.
