Not really distnat, but yes, no talent. Sort of like most of todays musicians...

Jimmie's father, E.C. Van Zant and his (E.C.'s) brother, Lacy Van Zant is Ronnie, Donnie and Johnny's father, linking this famous family together.

You do a lot of flapping gums around here especially on things you know nothing about.

First off Jimmie was a good guy. Maybe he wasn't a musical genius but still...not bad. Now, Lacy (RVZ's Dad) had a huge falling out with Jimmie. The boys all seemed to patch things up maybe because of his illness, I don't know.
Lynyrd Skynyrd did a benefit for Lacy's brother EC running for Sherriff back in the late 70's.

Jimmie Van-Zant is not a Van-Zant. He had his name legally changed to Van-Zant. His real name is James Kelsay.

If you ever get a chance watch Dave Grohl's Sonic Highways when they do Nashville.
some of he old time producers talk about that.
