On all his back exercises, he attaches a band. Do people really think this is effective? He says he has been using them for the last 1 1/2 years. What you, getbig?

One of the bigger guys in my gym uses them. ???
I really don't know much about them.

Yeah, there is some big guy at my gym who always uses them on bench press.
I'm just confused in terms of knowing what size bands to buy. ??? ???

I use them occasionally; usually pressing movements. (easy to perform a drop set when alone by simply removing the band and getting right back into the set.)
They will wreck your joints if you overuse them though, or at least in my experience.
EDIT: you have to get creative with them sometimes

there good for front raises and side laterals if you want to get the shoulders pumped up. otherwise for myself its just awkward

He'd be better of telling the real key to what works..... Massive doses of Humatrope..

haha, its all due to them bands, his elite genetics and spartan discipline.
HGH/AAS abuse is for losers. He is natty most of the time but few cc before a show helps him keep his elite genetic muscles when dieting.:)

Well, we all know that, genius. ::) ::) What a breakthrough. ::) ::)
But there are still many strength and conditioning coaches who implement resistant bands into their workouts. Obviously, they have some utility.

those rubberbands will be gone in 2-3 year. Then the people will have some new stupid shit.
Things are always getting back to normal after a while. Old proven fact...simplicity, weights and gravitation! Not rocket science!

I did a ten week program with a trainer at a strongman gym about 6 years ago to rehab a lower ab pull / hamstring tear.
He used bands and a lot of rest/pause techniques. I never had so much gains on my squat. In addition, 1 rep max on bench was 100 lbs higher than any weight we used in the 10 week period.
It might be gimmicky with drug fueled bodybuilding, but I think with strength and conditioning they have their merit.

I am 34 years old. When I was 16 years old, I had foot surgery and was in a cast for 6 months. I had physical rehab after. Practically my whole physical rehabilitation program was focused on resistant band training for my foot. And this is going back 18 years ago. so, please tell those physical therapists how to do their job lol. What a clown. Further, its quite obvious that using resistant bands will not make you look like Ronnie Coleman. No one implied that.
Please, let the big kids talk.

They are used widely by physical therapist. They are not going anywhere when it comes to any form of training or rehabilitation.

Yes, he also comes across as not being the "sharpest tool in the shed." :D :D

I use them for warming up my rotator cuff (twists) and for introducing a resistance from a 2nd angle when training with free weights.
