Whichever one fits in your mouth best and lets you still reach the trigger....

Tang safety on Mossberg. Button safety on the 870 bye the trigger guard main difference. Both top notch I bought the mossberg.

I have a mossberg 590 and love it.

I don't like the plastic trigger guard on the Mossberg (I know it can be easily changed) or the alloy receiver on the mossberg though. What are your thoughts on that?

500 Has a better loading system.
870 last longer I hear. The mil? Spec 500 has metal parts instead of plastic.
I have the 500, for want it is worth.

I can't find the mil-spec 500 with Walnut Polished finished stock! Any ideas?

This thread couldn't come at a better time. Currently looking for a tactical mossberg or Remington 12 ga

I bought mine 8 years ago. Google can help find metal parts, if you want metal parts. Both are very similar in the end tho.

The 500 is lighter as it has aluminum receiver. The 590 is a nice gun with all the right parts but prob no wood stock model.
If you want an 870 with most of the police internal specs and a nice stock get a Wingmaster.
-
Can't go wrong with either.
-
I have a Mossberg and I am happy with it. I assume the Remington is good as well. When researching a new gun I always see what hickok45 has to say about it.

I have the 870 Police and I've killed more with that gun than the rest combined. It's a tank. All of that said, the Mossy is a bit cheaper and every bit as good. I also like the safety placement on the Mossy better.
As for aftermarket parts and accessories, it's almost dead even.
Make sure you get the 500 and not the other 5XX guns. They're not as good as the 500.

End thread....lmao
I have the 870 ducks unlimited xxx/300 but it's too nice to use so useless :( just like my wetherby Athena SBS English stock....nice guns but never cycled a shell through them
My main use gun is a semi hk 12 gauge tactical 8 tube 1 pipe....shoulder screams after a full empty, but it's like fucking a hot bodied ugly chick "huge fun, until after....then you pay for it"

What say you?
What will you be using it for? ???

Browning A-5, BEST all around shotgun ever !

Would love to rack your slide one day :P

Shot both but bought the 870 and built it into the magpul version for about 150 cheaper then you can find it customized from Remington. I prefer the safety on top like the 500 but whatever. Look at Quantico arms...great deals on the 870.

Look at both in the store. More cops across the nation have carried the 870. Now most carry semi automatic shotguns like the Benelli. Look at the Mossberg and the 870 side by side. To me the Mossberg looks cheap even though my most accounts is very reliable like the 870.. If you want a really good looking 870 go with the Wingmaster. Better bluing and wood. The express is just as dependable. Had my 870 for 25 years and it looks and functions great.
-
The typical getbigger's home defense shotgun. :D

I love the wood look but as all my shit is tactical that's what I have. Ghost ring sites and the side saddle carrier.

Doesn't really matter. Both are very similar.

My friend accidentally shot me at point blank range with a .38 in the thigh in 2003. It was a simple entry and exit wound and the only thing the ER did was give me two gauze strips for each side. I got incredibly lucky on that one.
It felt as if someone heated a steel metal rod and jammed it in and out real fast. I was sore for about two days only and good as new by day three with the craziest looking bruise from it all that I have ever seen. Back squatting on day three like nothing ever happened. I still have a little tiny scar, but that is it. Can't even tell at all.

That is some grade A hick shit, Cheney :D
Seriously though, I knew a fucktard in college that was fascinated with guns. Dude was playing with it and accidentally shot though his apartment wall and almost hit the people living next to him. :-\

He didn't realize one was still in the chamber and squeezed the trigger as he was pointing it down and crossways from him. I was standing right beside him. I even told him a few hours ago that there was still one in the chamber a few hours before. I think about how lucky I am sometimes regarding that incident.
