Rare to see. Usually when a bar breaks, most people just mean it bent out of shape, or the Olympic sleeve slipped off. Usually when they snap, they snap off near the collars, usually from years of dropping on the rack pins or platform. The only other time I've heard of a midpoint snap is when the knurling is bad or too deeply recut.

Agreed. This couldve ended way worse though.

Also, here's a typical Olympic Lifting break. I once heard an Olympic lifter died when one of snapped ends bounced up, and slashed his throat. Never was able to find a name for him though -

The dude spotting him was in the worst position. Those two ends could have made a Neegan out of his head.
