Bodybuilding is about a physique not just one or 2 bodyparts, Dorian had a decent back and good calves besides that he's a average bodybuilder, his main highlights were being 300 pounds in the offseason, in 2003 I saw Ronnie Coleman at golds Venice, even spoke to him he was 318 pounds 6% body fat 2'weeks out of the Olympia! Yates Was never that size or that lean!

It's strange, Ronnie was far more freaky, arms much better, striations veins all over the place.I once showed the video of each posing from YouTube to my old dear (mom for Americans) as she asked who the top guys were, she did the ewwwwwww with Ronnie but said Dorian while being overdeveloped wasn't disgusting and far more pleasing to the eye (no schmoemo)I'm guessing most see it that way, ones who like Ronnie like the freak factor, ones who like Dorian prefer more well balanced.

Really. Not a single pic of recent years (last decade at least) has impressed me in the least bit. The reason I got into bodybuilding is due to the guys of the past who actually looked good. I could give 2 shits about Phil Heath, cucubumber dude, Dexter Jackson or anyone else who wouldn't be able to shine the shoes of the guy who came in 20th place at a 1993 or 1997 competition.

He was shredded, but like Levrone in 96, he was also very depleted in size. Dorian tried to compensate the following year by coming in at around 270 onstage, but he looked like complete and utter shit. Imo, his last decent showing was 95.

There were some unbelievable shots of Yates over the years. Huge and shredded. Remember those black and white picks a couple weeks out of his 2nd or third O? He was dominant, especially on size and hardness. Cormier and Flex were not close, nor was Levrone.

Did you ever see Dorian in person at a show competing on stage in prime condition or guest posing in the offseason at yes 290-300 lbs in his prime years.
Dorian set a new standard in size and conditioning that no other pro or anyone had ever seen before. If you ask any pro that stood on stage with him from that era they"ll tell you exactly that.
And no this is not about who's better Dorian or RC. RC also set standards that no one had ever seen in his prime.

crowd went wild second he turned around and pulled back arms and snapped into rear lat spread,and then again on front spread,,he mastered those 2 poses and looked great in them due to his structure,coleman looks uncomfortable.bunched up and like he's choking himself in front spread,he had a ton of muscle in chest/arms/trap area but he looked odd in it..

No specific year. I'm going by memory, and what i used to see in the mags back in the day. I remember Yates keeping his sharpness and size, and him being fuller during the tours than the other competitors. I have no pics to back up my claim. Was strictly an observation from looking at pics in the various mags at that time. From a spectator point of view, I remember seeing the pics and thinking that he was solidifying his Olympia win b/c he's harder and more cut than anyone else in the tour pics. So, I guess to answer your question: every year.

Kevin Levrone was also notorious for coming in fuller and in even better condition during the Grand Prix's too. 1996 comes to mind.

He was around 230-235 in 1995 and his weight leapfrogged to 250 in 1996 or 1997 I believe. He was around the same height (even slightly less) in 1998, yet it was though he tapped into some great shit and came up with an entirely different package.

The same judges that gave Dorian the muscularity round gave Haney the other rounds and the title so obviously they didn't think Yates should've won.

To me this is perfection for 2 reasons:
No fat GH gut
No clown-like Ramy or Ronnie legs that look like you've stuffed them with balloons. He has massive calves that give his more modest upper leg mass (compared to 2018 guys) a good support system. His graininess on stage (maybe less so in this photo) and blocky muscle while holding a small waist and fucking massive lats is what kept winning him trophies.

93 was Dorian's best year. No torn bicep. He was bigger than when he went against Haney. Completely ripped, dry and dense.
Agreed. That version of Dorian was untouchable. He apparently was 275 pounds a short while before the show and looked good enough to compete, but cut down to 256-257 anyway.

Agreed. That version of me being in a relationship was untouchable. SHE apparently was damaged a short while before we started dating, she was only 25, and looked good enough to marry, but was cut down so much mentally she left me anyway. This is after I paid her back the money I borrowed to get my masters degree, a full $25-26k.

the grand prix tours always seemed like looser more carefree in terms of condition and commraradie sp?the top guys could fill out and be bigger than usual ,up and comers or out of country guys could get in top shape to see what its like to be with american bbers.
