I don't do cardio that frequently, but whenever I start up, I get this INTENSE itching about 5-10 minutes in. Anybody else experience this?

Cholinergic urticaria?
For the longest time I thought it was sweat related or had something to do with fabric softener or detergent. After years of crossing things off the list, it seems like it's just something related to cardio. I've spoken to at least one other person who experiences this, even though they think it's a reaction to laundry detergent.

Are you on exogenous hormones?
Nope. It's been going on for years and pretty certain it's just a cardio issue for me. My bro-science degree leads me to believe it might have something to do with muscles being used in a way that doesn't happen too often. I guess I'm a bit surprised this is something that is not more common, though. Was wondering how others dealt with it because it actually did affect my continuing to do cardio for my last two workouts.

Glad you found something that worked for you, but not really useful for what I described. :-\

Either you are taking a preworkout with niacin or it is just normal reaction from a cold muscle gong hot quickly with exercise.

It doesn't actually. Obviously, I would google before starting a topic like this and I've seen that page several times over the years. I even took the advice of experimenting with an antihistamine. It did not work, the page only posits it as a hypothesis and the conditions spelled out don't really line up with what I laid out in the posts I've made in this thread. I'm not going from inactive to suddenly active. I work out regularly and intensely. What I'm describing is specifically related to cardio for me. I can accept that others don't experience the same thing. I just assumed (without a good reason) that this might not be uncommon and some on this board might have experienced it.

Maybe I'll bring it up during my next physical, but 10 minutes worth of itching spread over a few days after I add cardio to my workout isn't something I would run to the doctor for. Most GPs aren't really that knowledgeable about intermediate/advanced fitness issues anyway. It's a relatively minor issue, but still an annoyance. The perfect place to discuss it would be some sort of fitness/weigthlifting forum.

What STD's only symptom is itchy arms and chest 5 minutes into cardio?
-
Capillaries expanding. It goes away after a few workouts.
-
Sounds like flushing similar to taking niacin. .. BP lowering and capillaries expanding due to the exercise?

Sign of poor circulation ... and lack of character.
The itching will stop if you push through and don't use it as an excuse to give up like a fat asthmatic kid in gym class.
-
Is the itch full body or purely crotch based??

on a serious note...donīt know the medical reason for his problem but after training i find this Shower oil very good.. i get dry skin which can be itchy too. A lot of shower gels have very aggressive chemicals in there for some. Just saying.. dry skin itches more when you are warm or sweating.
-
it sounds allergy related. i get really bad all over itches at times, can be whilst/after training, after bathing or just come up randomly. i also get very bad hay fever which i think is connected to the itching. i take injections of a corticosteroid called triamcinolone (kenacort) and this pretty much stops all hayfever and itching and works for about 3 months or so.
if you only get itching whilst doing cardio, maybe just taking an antihistamine 30 mins before may do the trick.

itching is simply a manifestation of the mind.
