Gary Stydom did report that He is coming to Denver to return to competitive Bodybuilding!
Lonnie Teper from Ironman Magazine can attest to his statements and intentions.
Now, will he show up.............?
That is on him, but I certainly would like to see what Big Boy looks like on the comeback trail and he would be a welcome addition!

For some reason people use me to voice things but is it true allot of the competitors who you thought were going to compete said no after finding out they are not getting any expenses paid, not even per diem. Lets just say I get some interesting emails from guys I never even met.

Well I for one am really looking forward to seeing Gary compete again. Maybe a lot of the younger guys have never seen him but he was a fantastic BB who was a real viable threat to Lee Haney for a while. One of the few big men in the sport with superb genetics and a very pleasing physique.
Wether he can look quite the same again will be interesting. My best wishes to him. :)

Gary was a genetic freak - between all of the muscle he could pack on and his great conditioning. Based on recent pics I've seen, the guy appears to have lost nothing. Remember that he had great wheels, calves, abs, chest and shoulders. Weak points were slightly-below average arms (for his size) and a below-average back (for any size). Since he still had those weaknesses at the height of his career, chances are nothing's changed. But a big and diced Strydom should still crush guys like Branch and Dennis James (who are also relatively weak in the arms and back). Though not at Cutler or Coleman's level, I think he'd be good enough for 4th at the Olympia assuming he returns to form.

This isn't the first time Gary has made a IFBB apperance post WBF , he tried at the 1996 NOC and didn't even place top 12th !! ho-hum

What in the wide, wide world of sports would make strydom want to compete again? He couldn't even cut it when he was young! It takes more than a great pair of delts.

I seem to remember him being in pretty good shape for that show, lots of guys got screwed, Kawak, Phil Herndon looked like a monster and gary. Gary looks like he was in pretty good shape in that pic, look at the quads..maybe a little post WBF bias??

You guys have to read into this. No where does it say Gary is competing in the Colorado Pro. He is going to Denver to return to competitive BB. He could be going just to watch. I was wondering do the competitors in this show have to sign a contract to show up. And if so how many have actually signed the contract. The poster never said all those guys were coming. It said 'Superstars Like" Kind of what Dan Lurie did way back when he put on his poster all these guys names and no one showed up.

Onlyme, if you go back and read the early posts, you'll notice the Confirmed List of Athletes will be Posted after the Agreements are turned in after April 1st.
Email Gary or call him if you want verification of his plans. ;D

And you better think abouttaking my advice on setting the limit of "expense paid" to the Nationals. I am lucky I did it.

Shawn is a sharp cookie if they try to bilk him for nationals expenses and piss him off, they may end up eating a cold, PB and J sandwhich and eading to Miami this NOV via Greyhound Bus, staying at Motel 6
