It's their motto... Excellent marketing strategy?
Hater alert:
-
I stop by the local one from time to time. Really clean equipment but not enough weights to get a whole lot done. There are some semi-serious gym rats there, but mostly 18-21 year old girls and permabulkers who refuse to take sweats off cuz they are 20% bf or more

I used to go to a world gym years ago. They turn that place into a planet fitness and I cancelled my membership the next day. >:(

The best marketing they can do for their clientele is to advertise the free pizza days.

Free pizza and phantom members.

the irony of all of this is that as much as we make fun of PF they seem like the LEAST sleezy in the rest of the cesspool that is "fitness" (Shredz, Rich Piana, any Photoshop scandals, etc)
and yes--"PF" IS a part of "the Fitness Industry"

This
No personal trainers
If someone films in there is usually someone pissed or fckn up
No group X - Zumba/truffle shuffle
Cheap as shit
Offers you food - God forbid Golds hand out a few protein shakes every now and then to the dudes who DOnT buy shit there cause I don't need to bang the front desk girl
-
I was a LIfetime Fitness member for years. It was my favorite place. Like going to a resort to work out. Plenty of machines, weights, and room to actually use them. But they got to be stupid expensive
Golds had machines so close together you risked smashing your fingers taking weights off bars. Always packed. Hated it
Joined Planet Fitness a month ago because it was a couple blocks away from our new place. $10 a month, lots of room between the machines, sufficient amount of equipment although they are light on the lfree weight leg press machines with 1 for the entire gym population.
Free pizza once a month, haven't tried it but people seem to know what day it is and flock to it. Eye candy is the lowest I've seen in any gym. But I like the room they have for circuit training. It's usually empty
-
I can imagine wearing a Bernie t-shirt and talking about your feelings would get a dude laid a lot at Planet Fitness.

PF offers free personal training, tanning and hydromassage for $20. Almost worth it just for cardio and tanning.

I like how when a hot woman has no muscle to speak of, just low bodyfat, she's assumed to be fit. PF just hates on fit people, and it's contradictory too, cause it's like saying you can workout here, but just don't become too successful at it. Then you're reverse discriminated. They are basically pieces of shit.

I just trained at a Planet Fitness today. I agree with your sentiments. And the workout I had today was the same workout I get in any other gym--there was no difference. The only thing that sucks is that they do not have hammer strength machines. :'( :'( :'(

One of the gyms I belong to is pf
It's clean quiet
Free weights

I use a few machines
It's cheap and I get a good workout
But God forbid u superheroes don't have your mono lifts and power cages
I guess u need to pay more than 10 bucks to get a good workout
Get over your selves

It's absolutely ridiculous. I mean, I could understand if someone is a competitive lifter or bodybuilder. Besides that, there is no reason why someone can't get in a good workout at any gym.

agreed

I still like the old school vibe and use mostly free weights. Not a super strong guy so they probably have more than enough.
Toured one on Wyckoff Ave (in Brooklyn) and the chick felt it necessary to show me the tanning beds, LOL!

do you call the skinny guy walking around telling people how to properly use a cable machine a pt?

Unfortunately, he is technically a PT (as long as he is certified)!! :-\ :-\

Only if you're Big Mike Cox...

"We're not a gym... We're feeding the whales with pizza!"

ive been contemplating joining PF for the price, and scenery change. too many millenials running around at other gyms in their Warhorse gym attire taking selfies then giving you a dirty look when u look at them for taking a selfie in the main gym mirror, or 40-60 somethings all geared and tan for summer. as a natty, im feeling like id rather not be surrounded by this gym culture anymore. its too ridiculous these days. ill stick with my 20 min work outs 3x a week and 1800 cals to keep in shape.

That is one thing you don't get at Planet Fitness. You get to avoid all the millenials taking selfies and posting it on instagram.

Only if you're Big Mike Cox...
BMC inspired me to get a vasectomy. My sofa pulls out, but I don't!
