Lol...Russias natives are dieing off from alcohol abuse, majority of population is living in subpar conditions, while unimaginably rich elite thieves feed them bullshit, blaming west for their issues, which are actually directly caused by ruling class. In a real war they would bite the dust VERY fast, all that is left from past glory is quickly dissapearing too, its a done deal, oil prices brought them down on their knees all that cold war is just for the show for poor russians, to make them feel like they are suffering for a ''great'' Russia

I like Dave, but I HATE these types of "squats" (you know, Westside-like). Ridiculous stance width (only achievable with a monolift), multi-ply suits and highly questionable depth (a.k.a. none).

That Russian is the real deal. If I'm picky, I'd like to have seen another inch or two into the hole, but all things considered, that is a spectacular and awe-inspiring feat of strength.

Very impressive. :o Is that officially recognized?
The guy who spots him is Kirill Sarychev (http://www.getbig.com/boards/index.php?topic=587206.msg8311341#msg8311341) who holds raw bench world record.

How the hell does that count? Its like the people who arch their back so much during a bench press, and move it like 1". Ridiculous.

Depends on what you call officially recognized. It was done at the WRPF World Championship, the WRPF being one of the (too) many powerlifting organizations. This one has been created last year by Sarychev, Malanichev and Konstantinov. It's a "raw" powerlifting organization but knee wraps are allowed.

here an example of another "raw" PL org, where knee wraps aren't allowed:

each org tries to differentiate itself from the concurrence by creating its own rules, making more difficult the comparison between 2 athletes from different organizations.

With fog machine and theatrical lighting it looks more like a bike fest than a pl event. But when the bar bends it comes back to being serious. Sumo or not, this is astounding lift for a 100 kg bodyweight.

each org tries to differentiate itself from the concurrence by creating its own rules, making more difficult the comparison between 2 athletes from different organizations.

Yeah, quite silly situation, which just adds to powerlifting being dead as professional sport. Basically all what we have is youtube videos and a someone's word of honor that all what is shown is real.

Anyone are welcomed to try bring all their handful of US-left over fighter jets over the border, though.

It's been quiet since the 1940s.

Our Dutch colleague must be just mad about this recent development?

Their submarine (props here, didn't know Dutch even had a submarine) was given the boot recently by Russians  ;D
Reportedly the Russian vessels didn't even have specific 'sonars' on but tracked the Dutchers with all-around radars.

Not a chance, they have a conscript army with very low morale which literally enlists criminals from jail, high desertion rates and very high levels of corruption, theft and constant hazing/initiation of lower rank officers, not only enlisted men. Conscript training is also substandard.

Their fighter planes and other weapons might look impressive on paper but they use antiquated methods of production and are of a lower quality.

The West, with a highly trained professional army, Eurofighter planes, F-22's and Leopard tanks would wipe the floor with them. The Russians have the numbers but this isn't World War 2 era technology and warfare anymore.
