Title: At What Point In Your Life Do You Stop Wearing Certain Clothes?
Post by: Fallsview on May 07, 2016, 05:22:30 AM
With all the Mike O'Hearn threads I had to ask this question. Skinny jeans, cargo pants/shorts, hats with stickers on them, earrings, vans, clam diggers, parachute pants, etc. etc. you get the point.

Nothing is more ridiculous then seeing a man in his 40's or even 30's wearing those big billed baseball caps with stickers on them.

GQ says cargo pants should not be worn when a man turns 40.

What about fitness/athletic wear? Converse sneakers, Jordans, Any bodybuilding/crossfit propaganda tee shirts?

Anymore?

You should probably worry more about when you should stop thinking that you are "influential" on a bodybuilding message board full of retards.

Even jewelry. The other day I saw an older male wearing all these necklaces. Now, I also see rock and roll stars doing it but that's a different story. They have a pass but that grandpa...what about him?

Older males wearing hats backwards.

Facial hair manipulation, long side burns, goatee's, chin hair, wigs, etc. etc. Where does one draw the line?

I mean, most men and women don't realize they're getting older. The ones with kids actually have a benchmark to judge. But still some of these parents dress ridiculous.

We can say "Who cares?" but obviously we all do. We visit websites like People Of Walmart and laugh openly at these people. TV is filled with fashion shows, magazines, blogs, discussing what people are wearing and if its "Yay or Nay". When we are in certain places where proper dress is required and someone walks in wearing something outrageous we do notice...we may not say anything, or think about much longer than a few seconds but we do notice.

Haha, He was one of the guys I was thinking of. If someone who had no idea who he was saw him looking like that in a store, what would they think? Even professional wrestlers don't dress like this.

The sad part is adults...ADULTS are trying to emulate him. Look on Instagram and Facebook you'll see these people dressing, snarling at the camera like some 12 year old boy trying to be Superman.

The sad part is some of these people are parents.

What about men/women in their 60's getting tattoos? Spending thousands of dollars on sleaves while they struggle to feed their family still living in an apartment.

Skinny jeans. If you're 35 and look 35 dont wear them. Dont wear them if you're not fit and 10-12 or sub bf. If you look young and fit as fuck you can maybe pull it off. Usually not.

Cargo pants? Pretty ageless to me.. Dont see problem with this at higher age. Unless it's some trendy designer cargopants

Converse looks stupid on a 30+ person

Running shoes can be worn by older but sneakers, not on 40+er unless you look really young

"Fox Racing" hat with graphic t (or TapOut, Affliction...you get it), gold chains on the outside and white thread jeans all topped off with a few forearm and neck tatooes.  I call it the "I give up." look.  It's an epidemic in Alberta, although somewhat stalling now that the patch money has dried up.

The "New" Ed Hardy shirts for 2016 are SuperDry or whatever they call them. I see guys in the gym wearing these over priced rags. I never understood the over priced tee shirts that are the same cotton material as Fruit Of The Loom underwear. Its not like the material is some special blend...its frickin cotton. Same goes for the Roots Of Fight garbage. Their muscle shirts are too stretchy and don't sit right.

Problem is you train your body to look good you want to wear something stylish to make the physique look even better. The people that are pushing these ridiculous styles are getting this crap for free. When the average "Joe" wears them...they look like idiots.

I was very worried what others thought about what I was wearing when..........

I realized it doesn't matter.

If I can't respect myself nothing else matters.

Lol no question.

I just meant in context of people who don't matter to me.

Sometimes I look nice sometimes I look like a dbag.  I just meant we are not what we wear........ unless I think you look like an out of touch aging clown shopping at the buckle for some tight fitting white stiched rock revival jeans. In that case you are what you wear.

Ageism is pretty ridiculous. I'll wear whatever I want for as long as I want if that looks good on me and I like it. Oh, I'm 30 and I wore a flat brim during the sunny weekend and I don't give a fukk (or "should" not wear it just because of my DOB?? I look 25, couldnt care less what the number in my passport is), will wear it five years later if I feel like it. People are so self conscious and so "boxed", geez..

I like your style!  The "grizzled old man" is making a comeback.

Here's the current look I HAAAAAATE:

hipster beard
strands of hair hanging in face
man bun
tight button down shirt
tight slacks or skinny jeans
hipster sneakers
snapback cap with sticker
man purse
non prescription hipster glasses

I'm going for Overbooked Contractor Who May Have Slept In His Truck Last Night In The Same Underwear He Is Still Wearing.  Yet Still Hot.

Brutal couple months.  There are people worried about their coif & couture out there?  I can't remember the last time I looked in a mirror.  Probably for the best.

I haven't bought new clothes in years and they look more authentic as I age.
