In addition to your primary career/occupation? There's a lot of different sorts of people on here, I'm curious. I've got a pretty decent job, but I'm not supposed to work more than 40 hours per week unless absolutely needed which sucks. Keep the g4p comments to yourself please

Teach guns, make guns.
That said, I've never charged for my time on training, only passed through the cost of the class materials (usually heavily subsidized anyway from the NRA) and the last few rifles that I built for others I only charged for the parts, not my time. So it's really no more than a hobby right now.
Given the state of the world with Obama, I am pretty sure that I could be building rifles until the day that I die if I wanted that career.

Nice work.
Those shorts, wrist straps and wood paneling are all key components to correct execution of that movement.

I do online fitness coaching and work with a supplement companies doing demos for them.
Brings in a few hundred bucks a month on top of my primary career. Can't complain.
If it wasn't for tuition I'm not sure I'd be doing the online coaching, that shit gets boring real fast.

That's awesome man you could probably make great money doing that.

How'd you get into that.

How'd you get into that.
Into which? The coaching or working with a supp company?
I assume you mean the supp company. In 2012 I was prepping to do my first (and, so far, only) natty bodybuilding show. I trained in the same gym as a guy who was pretty high up in a supplement company here in Toronto. We kinda started training together, he'd spot me, I'd spot him, etc... and once I started getting closer and closer to the show, he asked if I wanted to come and work their booth at the Toronto Pro. I, of course, jumped at the chance.
They seemed to like me, and asked if I'd be willing to do more demos for them. About a year later I lost contact with the guy (who, I later found out, had some disagreement with management and they went their separate ways). Then about a year ago I heard from them again, asking if I'd like to come back and resume doing demos for them. I agreed, so I've been at it for just over a year now. I'll be working the Toronto Pro booth again this year, as I did last year.

Lord no. I wish that I had a real machine shop and a (swoon) CNC machine. By "build", I mean "assemble". I pick out the best parts and assemble it into a working gun. Almost all are AR patten rifles now.

$. My $.02, CNC is the shit for production when you need to do 1000 parts but manual is fine for turned and milled project work. On the other hand, I'm not a computer guy, so possibly biased against software in the workshop.
Everyone loves CNC these days, which means old school is cheap. You might be pleasantly surprised how little you can pick up decent handwheel machines for.

Just occurred to me that a good barrel, whether tungsten cut or ground, is probably finish lapped from a master of whatever caliber.
Clearly, I'd like to get into fabrication. Also really keen on joinery and furniture making. Unfortunately, spare time's kinda rare.

i play in bands and make 300 to 500 per man for the corporate shows. Make 150 to 250 per man for the dive bar shows. and tips :) 4 to 5 hours total work, setup/play/breakdown. And I thought I had it nice until I saw what the bartenders made lol.
the bartenders make more money on good nights. $600 a man on some of the kickin Friday nights. Lots of 20$ tips add up. BUT they also have to sit through all of the shitty 2pm to 12am shifts in the outdoor bar in the florida summer heat, which is basically 94 degrees with no wind, and the only customers are old drunk people who live there. They earn, but they work for it.

After Yankee games, sometimes we'd go to Wollensky's Grill in NY. Lots of Wall St guys.
We knew the bartender - he made over 200k annually. $1000+ / night in tips routinely, even on weeknights.

yep. at the dive places, most drink all night while they work, so I imagine it's not that miserable of a shift :)
There are bad nights, of course. Band $ is guaranteed, but aside from our tips jar, we cannot earn the limitless like they can.
Some nights, there are just stacks and stacks of 20s... they do well. they have to work thru some very hot days/nights.
I don't think I could do it... pretend to care what some whiny vaping idiot is crying about as he bitches about his woman while hitting on 40 simultaneous girls on his phone. People are just too punchable. With music, I can tune them out and just play and have fun. When they do get too involved onstage, I do get cranky now and then, but usually only the super-drunk will interrupt a live show with suggestions or whatever.

A lot of that is tax free. Would have be a moron to report cash earnings to the last penny.

I don't report 75% of my personal training $$$ (which is my side gig)
Close to $12k I don't report.
EDIT: The reason the other % gets reported is so that I can write off a TON of expenses. (Mileage, Car Expenses, Supplements, Work Clothing aka Gym Clothes, Education, etc etc.)

post on getbig
After each 50 posts, I collect a small stipend from a special getbig fund to "cease and desist" for a few weeks.
-
All my primary income is divided up into bills, family and saving for a house. I do IT support and project mgt on the side for a few clients. My side money finances my hobbies and is off limits to the family. :)

Absolutely. Even reporting half of it, he'd be fine.

it's a family restaurant and I'm from a very close Italian family...the weird thing is they now about almost all the shit I've done and STILL love me

I've got a pretty decent job, but I'm not supposed to work more than 40 hours per week unless absolutely needed which sucks.
Overtime sucks much more. I had a telecom work-partner at another company that installed microwave links who purposely set up jobs to get as much overtime as he could get....I wanted to stomp him flat...
-
What do I do for extra cash on the side? Structured/data-com cabling. Very few can do it right.

Overtime kicks ass. In your 20s like I am, you are so full of energy and motivation to work so OT isn't a big deal and I take every possible shift I can take. My job itself is pretty low stress and easy going so its not a chore. I'd work 6 on 1 off if they let me but damn labor laws have me limited because companies don't wanna fork out for double time after 2 hours of OT!

Run my own gym plus I judge MMA on the side, its a nice little gig. I get to sit cageside, watch kick ass fights and get paid good for doing it. Friday I drove 2 hrs judges 14 fights drove 2 hrs home and made $240. I had $25 in gas and about $10 in food expense so a $205 profit was pretty nice.

Back when I was a freshman and sophomore in high school I had a pretty good gig to pay for my boards and beer. I had a condom gig going on the upper classman were afraid to go in and buy condoms. They gave me $20 I'd go in buy a $5 box of condoms and pocket $15. I did this every week some times numerous times a day.
It got so bad the Pharmacist from the drug store who knew my mom called her and told her. My mom came to me and said she was glad I was being smart but wanted to know who I was having so much sex with Hahahaha!!!
I pulled out a fat wad of cash and explained it to her, she called me a fucking genius. She called the pharmacist back and let him know what was going on, every time there after he would just smile and say business is good. That shit bought me a lot of alcohol those couple of years but by time we were Juniors and Seniors everyone was like fuck it I will buy my own.

$205 profit? 4hrs driving, 3hrs judging = 7hrs labor
You made less than $30/hr
