Title: Rear delt problems , help needed.
Post by: DanielPaul on May 25, 2016, 04:12:59 AM
So I've been having pain in my rear delt during any kind of chest press exercise, the pai itself isn't terrible but it's persistent and I've hade it for months now and it's seems to be far worse after heavy bench.  I have never made a habit of doing rear delt strengthening ever a I noticed this morning that when I did low weight high rep rear delt flys my shoulders felt great after.  My question is could two decades of rear delt neglect be the cause of my pain ? Answers and opinions appreciated.

Stop benching

Make time to do rear delt isolation work (no homo)

Active Release Therapist will work wonders.

Most likely impinged portion of the SITS group.

Could be a infra-/supraspinatus tear, visit your doctor

Long con attempt to steer discussion to "bent over" portion or bent over rear delt flyers.

Really?  The pain isn't severe by any means but the fact that it's there during any deep movement is what bothers me and I'm afraid to injure it.  I'm going to try to find an active release therapist.

As written above- the pain may not stem from the rear delt. It could be referred pain from some shoulder structure etc.

The pain isn't necessary that painful, but your problem sounds like a rotator cuff issue. I've heard good things about ART, but I would suggest to visit a doctor first. He referred me to a physiotherapist who did an echoscopy.

Acupuncture has worked the best for me, especially for a shoulder injury.

I always have nagging pain in the rear delt area if I neglect rear delt and rotator work. Make a habit of doing them a few times a week on their own when there fresh, light weight high reps/volume. At least that's what works in my case

Your chest is to tight and it is causing your scapula to protract, your serratus anterior is probably shot as well .

for every action there is an equal an opposite reaction .. work the pulling movements as well as the pushing movements.in other words if you're doing ten sets of benches do 10 sets of some type of rowing movement.

Turns out the city I live in has several chiropractors who have been certified in ART and I have an app for tomorrow afternoon great right?  Well yea but I just found out my insurance requires a 500 dollar deductible before it starts to cover anything. Fuck it go big or go home right.  PS  I'm a legit 10 no with an 8 inch meat mallet and I've got a couple hundred grand in the bank like all getbiggers so no way my wife cheats with a Hebrew 😀
