For a minute, Imagine if the IFBB judging criteria of 2016 were judging bodybuilding with this type of physique as the ideal ...

Casey Viator (who also did HIT) was one of the strongest (along with Bertil Fox).

It also worked for a little unknown bodybuilder called Dorian Yates ;)

True... but Pearl did very well with volume. I believe in leaving the gym with "Gas in the Tank".

He and mentzer never got into Olympia shape from what was outlined in heavy duty

Not this shit again.
These two Mentzer twats did lots of partial squats. Like, three-inch partials. And anyway, there's no way in high hell some 250-pound bodybuilder is squatting with 925.
How many top elite powerlifters today can squat such a number with, say, only a belt and, maybe, wraps? One? Two? And these guys weigh well over 300 pounds.
Yeah, Ray was doing it. ::)
One more thing. His name's spelled Samir. One m. HTH
-
Samir earned it in 83. But he loved life too much to go for seconds, especially against LH..

that would be great, i dont care what anybody says mike mentzer had one of the most pleasing physiques ever to set foot on the stage

How come he could never duplicate his 1983 condition? Was it really that hard for him to come in dry?
-

technically Mentzer did get into stage ready shape with heavy duty ie. the 1st version of it which was training 4 days a week each muscle twice a week for 3-6 failure sets per muscle

What I said: he loved life too much. That means he was/is just a nice happy funny dude. Still is..

Was lucky enough to meet Samir at the British Grand Prix in Nottingham in the '90s after the show - I went multiple times so can't be sure if it was before or after the Momo tragedy. He was an absolute professional, with a beaming smile (no homo #1) as he clearly loved his job and talked to us all for a super long period. Didn't charge $20 for the pic with him either...
Talking of tragedies, I also met Ray McNeil, maybe at the same event?? (and squeezed his leg - no homo) even though I can't find him in the listings!?!?
Totally irrelevant point: David Dearth and Porter Cottrell were impressive on stage, but very VERY diminutive in person...

HE tried to add too much size and was quite bigger later 80's.nabba and later iffb yrs lost lines/condition.

-

Dearth is really small but he was able to get a great illusion on stage. Always one of the better conditioned guys...

5'6 I believe 190/205 onstage I think and cotrell same until he went to 220 or close but lost his lines a bit heavier..

Great pic!
Nubret killing it with style.

Samir n Robby r on my lifting belt. Autographs I mean.

Nubret is what world champion bodybuilders used to look like :-\ :'(
-

And Samir was at best 5'6", so that's a lot of muscle he's carrying around on a relatively short body.
-

Labrada (5'3"-5'4") would have made Samir look like a giant. Here you see a pic of 5'2" Danny Padilla and 5'3"-5'4" Momo Makaway next to 5'6" Samir. You also have 5'5" and change Chris Dickerson and 5'6 3/4" Tom Platz and 5'6.5" Jonny Fuller there as well (all on the bottom row).

Look, they all have full heads of hair!
-
jessup had a great build as well

Nubret was known for loving his tren.

Samir still looking good for his age (although maybe needs to stop with the facial hair coloring as he's starting to channel Poirot a little...
