Been reading a lot about high dose vitamen c in the 5-15 gram range. People claim it cure many diseases prevents heart disease hardening of arteries less inflammation. Anyone try it?
Some even claim it reverses their heart disease. Most animals produce their own humans don't. Animals get less cancer diseases.

It's Linus Pauling hype and hasn't demonstrated to do much of anything in healthy people.
There is strong evidence that it prevents exercise adaptation by suppressing mitochondrial creation, high dose.

He didn't die of old age. He died of cancer he claimed he could cure. People live past 100 without ever taking high dose c.

My aunt I was actually recommended this from a doctor she saw in South Florida. He was a young up-and-comer that was not swayed by big pharma yet... Pretty sure it was Dr. Malachai Love.

But I often used to drink 20 of these 1 gram effervescent Vitamin C tabs per day,
simply because it tasted good. Never got an upset stomach. I can take 50 grams of creatine a day too with no stomach issues at all :D

I bought into it for a little while but now I'm starting to think it is mostly bullshit.
Maybe a gram dose a couple times a week would be good enough?

It doesn't take much Vit C to keep us from getting scurvy but some Dr's are of the opinion that years of subpar doses of C can create micro tears in our arteries which leads to the body repairing these tears but patching with plaque in lieu of not having enough Vit C to produce collagen to rebuild the arterial wall.

Didnt notice that much to be honest, I wasnt holding much water anyway, I took it for around 10 days prior.
stopped taking it after show , still didnt really hold any water
its 5 weeks later now and Im still only about 10lbs over stage weight.

I would guess because you were on track and not doing anything to try to manipulate your water? I've trained more guys who have come to me at the last minute from fucking up than I have from being with me from day one. Not a fan of any type of diuretic but I will use C and other things first

only ever used a diuretic once, shed around 7lb overnight, looked flat and smooth.
This time around increased carbs for a full 6 days before the show, last three days just ate oats chicken cod and rice.
Water just went straight through me.

If your kidneys allready are Flex Wheeler or Tom Prince shape.....ni it won't do shit then...

Beyond Health recommends that almost everyone suffering from a chronic disease take
Vitamin C (powder) to bowel tolerance.
Start out with a small amount and very gradually increase it at your own pace, gradually
taking a little more each day. Take small amounts frequently rather than large amounts
less frequently, at roughly equal intervals throughout the day.
Vitamin C can be taken at any time. Many people find it easiest to take some upon
awakening, some with each meal, and some before going to bed at night.
If at any time along the way, you get abdominal discomfort: a rumbling stomach, excessive
gas, or diarrhea, go back to the amount you reached before you encountered problems.
Use this as your maintenance dose.
Whereas most people tolerate around 10-20 grams/day, there have been cases where 50
and even 100 grams have been needed to reach bowel tolerance. The ability to tolerate
such large amounts means these large amounts are needed.
Similarly, if you are coming down with any kind of infection, your body requirements for
vitamin C go way up. At the first sign of a cold or flu, take C every hour or even every half
hour, and you can usually nip that virus in the bud. This may require 20 to 50 grams, and
100 grams is not unheard of. If you are unable to prevent the cold or flu, continue the
same frequent doses of vitamin C, and your recovery will be much, much quicker.

mega high dose oral vit C is a waste of time by and large, but not if it is delivered intravenously by drip or a push.
Most of you guys in the US will have access to people who do things like the Myers cocktail. If you can afford it then you should really try to get one once a month.
Especially because getbig is filled with old farts and their increasingly fcuked up digestive systems.

When I first started going to Health Food Stores, I saw on sale, a large jar of a 1000 chewable, 1 gram tabs, of Vitamin C, buy one, get another one for a Penny more. I walked out with two big jars. When a friend of mine, who was studying to be a Chiropractor at the time, saw them on my kitchen counter, he flipped out. He started ranting about the nutrition courses, he had just gotten lectured on, that if you take more than 100mg of Vitamin C, then you will get incapacitating stomach cramps, asphyxiating farts, and terminal, projectile diarrhea! I didn't tell him that I had been experimenting, and had been taking 50, 1 gram tabs of Vitamin C for several days at that point, and didn't have any of the terrible side effects that he predicted, and I never had any of those side effects over the 40 days in a row of taking 50 Grams of Vitamin C per day, but my tooth enamel was aching from the acid in the chewable tabs, and I switched to capsules. I still take 2 to 4 grams of Vitamin C per day. Maybe I just need more Vitamin C than most people?
