It's like the Pokeman zombie apocalypse. People (adults) walking around my neighborhood staring at their phones (seemingly waiting to get hit by a car) aimlessly looking for this fruitcake game character. Same in my gym (who it seems two of my pop-warner kids found one all the way to my varsity players wondering around our football field before and after practice looking for whatever they're supposed to be looking for. Apparently this just started on Thursday. Who ever came up with the marketing for this is an absolute genius.

I said, "Yes, but when the app/game loses its flavor, these same people will go back to being couch potatoes. A game/app should not make you want to exercise. You should just want to." I spent the other 14 minutes being distracted from the game by thoughts of the countless Black Men who have had the police called on them because they looked "suspicious" or wondering what a second amendment exercising individual might do if I walked past their window a 3rd or 4th time in search of a Jigglypuff.
Akil’s logic is simple: Black men are stopped more often by police for unusual or suspicious behavior. More police stops means a greater risk of violent interactions, and black men are disproportionately killed by police. Pokémon Go causes people to do unusual things in public spaces. It reminds me of a smart phone version on the old "geo cache". This was where someone leaves some dumb item in a place and provides clues via GPS coordinates.
You're 100% correct that wanting to exercise shouldn't have to be tied in with some goofy fantasy pursuit.

Fair enough, but it depends on how serious someone takes it.
For example, it's annoying when some Pokeman Go obsessed douche risks getting hit by a car when they wander into a busy street. Then they get mad at the driver and act entitled to walk in the road to play their game.
If they laugh about it , accept it's goofy but still enjoy it, then fine. If you're wondering around safely insome park being goofy chasing virtual assclowns, have at it.

Went to a restaraunt last night and while there a dad with his teenage daughter and son came in with heads down looking at their phones. The waitress brought them over to a table only to get yelled at that they needed one where they could charge their phones and they proceeded to March around looking for one. Dad looked slightly embarrassed but continued to allow his children to act in that manner.

Now this is crazy (translated from Swedish)
In the middle of the night, a dude living in northern sweden (Arvid) hears someone trying to get inside his house (dude has a door with a window so he can see a fellow trying to enter the door whilst flashing a flashlight through the window).
Arvid thinks it's a burglar, which every sane person would when someone tries to enter your house in the middle of the night like that.
Arvid picks up an umbrella (as defence against the would-be burglar) and then opens the door slightly and asks what the hell is going on.
The fellow outside responds "Sorry , it's just that there is a very very important Pokemon inside your hallway, could you please let me enter for a quick moment so i can "blip" it? (i assume catch it to his phone).
Arvid was so confused that he let's the unknown stranger enter the hallway, blip the pokemon and then leave, while mumbling something.
After gathering his thoughts for a bit, Arvid regrets letting the stranger inside, he was thinking maybe he should have caught that elusive and important Pokemon ihimself!!!!

Those are the same things that terminally ill patients about to die in the hospital are happy to do. yet these are healthy 18 year old kids saying this. If you need a video game to make you go for a 5 minute walk, you have serious problems.
