James Stavridis, Retired Admiral, Is Being Vetted as Hillary Clinton’s Running Mate

Clinton’s campaign is vetting James G. Stavridis, a retired four-star Navy admiral who served as the 16th supreme allied commander at NATO, as a possible running mate, according to a person with knowledge of the vetting process.

Some close to Mrs. Clinton, the former secretary of state, say she was always likely to have someone with military experience on her vice-presidential short list, and Mr. Stavridis, currently the dean of the Fletcher School at Tufts University, fits the description.

During his four years as NATO’s supreme allied commander, he oversaw operations in the Middle East — Afghanistan, Libya and Syria — as well as in the Balkans and piracy off the coast of Africa.

The Clinton campaign declined requests for comment, and Mr. Stavridis declined to comment other than referring calls to the campaign. The person with knowledge of the vetting spoke anonymously because of the sensitive nature of the process.

My guess... the thinking of Trump, with "we don't need NATO" is going to quickly get smashed when this nato veteran arrives and explains how it keeps us safe, etc.

Trump bragging he's the 'law and order candidate' was beyond laughable - he's spent his career buying way around laws, while bragging about it lol.

NATO is in shambles right now due to your boys' incompetence

yeah, but "let's just leave" is insane.   "Let's fix it" is the reasonable approach, and I'm sure this man has some ideas for it.

This move it likely just a reactionary gamble to undermine any Trump military pick. I doubt trump settles for any of the boring political lifers he's flirting with.  "down to 4" - the man is brilliant at season premieres.  Choosing boring ass pence isn't his way, but I guess pretending helps when he's in IND today.
