Donald Trump is planning to announce that Indiana Gov. Mike Pence is his choice for his vice presidential running mate, according to a Republican with direct knowledge of the decision.
As Trump narrowed in on his choice of Pence, the two men spent time at both Trump's golf resort in New Jersey in early July and at the Indiana governor's mansion this week.

In addition to testing the men's chemistry together, Trump was reportedly impressed with Pence's calm demeanor, his experience on Capitol Hill and as a governor, and Pence's potential to assist Trump in governing, should the ticket win in November.

Trump's campaign tweeted that no decision has been made and that the announcement will be made publicly at an event at Trump Tower at 11 a.m. Friday morning.

Perpetually genial, prematurely gray, Mr. Pence, 47, said, “I was taken aback by the level of invective.”
“It’s a test of the character of the conservative movement in the 21st century,” he said. “We are either going to prove that we believe in the ideas enshrined on the Statue of Liberty or the American people will go looking elsewhere.”

The best thing Trump can do now is declare he will only stick around for 4 years before handing the reins over to the Indiana Governor and retiring to Mar-a-lago.

Trump cannot make his announcement tomorrow. He's had no problem using past terror attacks to bolster his claims, grabbing/sharing headlines from terror attacks, along with Ann Coulter.
This time, he doesn't want to share the headline with his veep choice. Pence is already arriving in NYC, but no announcement Friday AM as planned. Citing the terror attack.
This could hurt him - without the credibility of Pence, more on the RNC rules committee may be willing to let that new "good conscience" rule slide.
