If you think you're poor, think again. :)
If you live in the US or another developed country, chances are that you belong to the top 5% of richest people in the world, at least according to this site:
http://www.globalrichlist.com/
That should make you happy for a while. :)
I'm not saying we should lower our standards, but maybe we should look at our lives from another perspective and realize how lucky we truly are.

While that's all fine and dandy, it's all relative to the country you live in. So poor and broke in America is still poor and broke.
-
Standard of living. That is why people in San Francisco are living in their cars when being paid 70k+ a year.

Oh wow seems like a really fantastic life.

My friend, my point is that poor in America is not the same as poor in Venezuela. Now, if you're talking about being absolutely broke, then I guess it sucks just as much, but even then, in America you can be on welfare. That's not going to happen in a undeveloped country.

Thank you. That's exactly my point. :)
And by no means I want to criticize American standards, I'm just saying that when we look at the full picture, you do realize that there are many, many fucked up countries out there.
Again, I don't think anyone should lower their standards.

as an american who has travelled and lived abroad a few times, america is a cake walk compared to most places.
we also pay less for goods and services as well.

In order to minimize the successes of capitalism, Liberals have to take everything for granted: plumbing, electricity, Internet, transportation, food abundance etc., and also pretend that the rest of the world doesn't exist, so that when they bitch about inequality, while sipping a Latte at Starbucks, they don't have to deal with someone pointing how well they have it by world standards.
That there is an obesity epidemic among inner city blacks and Hispanics, who, by all rights, should be starving to death, is conclusive evidence that there are no truly poor people in the U.S.

Every poor person I see in America is fat. Every poor person in every other country you can see their ribs from starving.

in fact it was so much food the kids couldnt even eat it all . all paid for by the federal goverment .

Liberals are cowards.
If Christians all of the sudden showed up with ak-47s and started mowing down leftists they would shut the fuck up real quick.

old timer ive seen people here in the phillipines that are starving so bad, you can literally see every vein in there body .
fuck i feel so bad for them i buy them food sometimes. the shit ive seen , sometimes makes me cry i feel so bad for them. and all they
want to do is work so they can eat, ive seen kids on the streets trying to sell stuff all day just so they can help there family eat.
when i see this it makes me feel so sad and guilty for all the times ive pissed and moaned about stuff i dont have.

There's a reason for that Oldtimer and it has to do with the calorie dense and nutrientless food consumed. People are obese but malnourished. Don't be fooled by the fatness. They're in worse shape than you think.

Same old herd mentality nonsense... as if a lack of perspective is necessarily a BAD thing. A lack of perspective was NECESSARY for many man's great achievements.
And funny how the well off are responsible for sympathizing with the poor, when the latter are to blame for something. But when the rich are to blame? "Fuck off and die, you degenerate girls!" zero sympathy expected or given.
Double-spaced of peace.

A lack of perspective CAN be a bad thing! Specially when people start taking basic needs for granted and they embrace socialism, only to realize money has to come from somewhere and nothing is free. :)
I agree a lack of perspective has lead to many achievements, but it makes one feel lucky and humble to remember how good you're doing when compared to people who were born in the wrong places. If you can't enjoy that for a moment, then you may be a dense mofo.

I wonder how much time the great figures in history spent trying to feel 'lucky and humble'. ???
On the other hand, I know many people who preach these values on a regular basis, most of them homeless or milquetoast churchgoers.

I live in NYC. There are fruit and vegetable carts on every corner. For the same price as soda, potato chips and Old English 800, you can eat apples oranges, red peppers, lettuce etc.
Funny how the poor in Kenya aren't fat.
