Through interwoven close-up life stories and strikingly intimate vignettes Raising the Bar 4 delves into bodybuilding further than ever before, giving an unadulterated look at the strange and often heart-wrenching, untold stories of bodybuilding in a raw and unscripted eleven-part YouTube series.
RTB 4 is an honest, unforgettable glimpse into the lives of these professional athletes as well as many others whose lives have been forever altered by fitness and the powerful tool that is the camera.
Chapter 1 Synopsis:
At the end of RTB3, we saw Dave Pulcinella and Haley McNeff walk away hand-in-hand, a seemingly happy couple. When the curtain rises on Raising the Bar 4 we see that their relationship has not only ended, but threatens to wreak havoc on their lives.
With female bodybuilding on the verge of dying out, she might be its last hope…but will the 20 year old Hayley be able to handle the pressures of being thrust into such a demanding role at such a tender age, while also dealing with her first real adult heartache?
We explore this and more and also reveal the shocking reason behind Dave and Haley’s demise in the debut episode of Raising The Bar 4.
Also Featured:
• Mike Pulcinella’s journey from filmmaker hobbyist to MHP’s man-behind-the-camera
• Behind-the-scenes footage of Victor Martinez—Mike’s very first shoot of a pro bodybuilder—only a few months after Victor’s devastating career setback knee surgery.

Chapter 2 Synopsis:
As filmmaker Mike Pulcinella delves further into the art of documentary, he discovers the power the camera holds as an instrument of defense.
He must juggle the responsibilities of filming for a major fitness supplement company while confronting the looming threats being made against his girlfriend’s life by a new neighborhood bully—a Santeria Priest.
This unexpected event is the catalyst that forces Mike into the center of a story that explores cultural diversity, confrontation, violence, and camera’s power to prevent it.
Meanwhile, Mike begins to film what will become "Kai Greene: Overkill", but the project is not as simple as it seems.
A reluctant and monk-like Kai is camera shy, and the last thing he wants during a difficult prep for the 2009 Olympia is to be filmed.
Mike has mere days to get the footage he needs and must navigate Kai’s insecurities about being filmed in order to achieve his goal in capturing something intimate and unique.
Highlights include:
• Kai Greene and his trainer/mentor Oscar Ardon open up in never-before-seen interviews about their perspectives on the making of Kai Greene: Overkill
• Narration by Dave Pulcinella about his filmmaker brother's past and his somewhat unorthodox and invasive method of filming.

No, the documentary is about many intertwined subjects.
-
Any talk of gear practices? Or is it all the same "been there, done that" bullshit?
-
It's about pulcinella and the 19yo girlfriend fucking around until she found a better penis to hold on to and dump him.
-
So Is this a bodybuilding documentary or some soppy love story shit where the target audience is women and fags? I can't tell from the write up
-
Any talk of gear practices? Or is it all the same "been there, done that" bullshit?
No gear talk, which makes them more promotional videos than documentaries. Still relatively entertaining.

I don't get into talking about gear. I'm more concerned with how BB affects relationships.
A great doc about gear has recently come out made by a talented young UK filmmaker. I suggest you check it out.

This is no documentary, since you don't discuss the drug aspects with the bodybuilders. A documentary is, a "movie or a television or radio program that provides a factual record or report." By ignoring the drug aspect of the sport, you are not providing a factual record or report of bodybuilding in its entirety. You're providing half truths.
Documentary........lol

No where in your definition does it say that any documentary needs to show ANYTHING in its entirely.
In fact, the art of documentary is in deciding what NOT to show. If you want to learn about the drugs there are many videos you can watch. Google it! But there are almost none on the relationship effects of this obsessive sport, except mine.

lol haha. Yeah, nice way to get around it. When doing a documentary, any good director would attempt to show ALL factual aspects of the story being told. They wouldn't candidly leave out the most OBVIOUS facts of the documentary. Try again.

In "Jiro Dreams of Sushi" did the director get into the illegal fishing practices of the Japanese or the dangers of parasites from raw food or was the doc about the relationship between a father and his sons? I don't think the drugs are relevant to the story I am telling.
You try again. As I said, there are plenty of videos about the drugs if that's what you are interested in.
And if you are that obsessed with the drugs in BB go out and make the documentary YOU think should be made. I was not a professional filmmaker when I started. You could make docs too if you feel that strongly about it.

lol, Trying to peddle your bad documentaries on getbig lol.
Its like making a documentary about Ali and not talking about boxing. The same with drugs and bodybuilding.

You saw my response. DO something about it instead of just complaining. Make a video denouncing me and my doc and I will post it on all my social media.

Why would I make a documentary? I am not a film maker.
Do you expect the baseball analyst to go up to the plate and hit a baseball because he's analyzing a batters swing? ??? ??? In that sense, why do I have to make a documentary because I am analyzing your documentary? ??? ???

What's your problem? Is this guy bothering you? He doesn't talk about gear but the vids are decent. He knows a lot more about gear use than you ever will.

I wasn't a filmmaker either...but I did it.

I wasn't a filmmaker either...but I did it.
So, that doesn't mean I have to do it.
There are baseball or sports analysts who were never players who still offer commentary on the game, and have no desire to actually play the game.
You're making no sense whatsoever.
I think you need to peddle your documentaries somewhere else. ??? ???

I think you just need to not watch my stuff. In fact, you are banned from watching my documentaries. You are not allowed. jk LOL!
Here's the thing...I think some of you guys are SOOOOOOOOO obsessed with the fact that you think that bodybuilders are "cheating" by using drugs that you miss all of the other things about this sport that make it interesting and special.
Those are the aspects that are important to me and therefore that's what I explore. You can watch my stuff or not. I don't care. I tell the stories I want to tell and there are a lot of people, many on getbig, who enjoy them.
For a good exploration of the drugs watch Under Construction 2. I included the link earlier in this thread. Will you go and watch that? It seems to be a topic that is close to your heart.

I never said it was considered cheating. But it's just a MAJOR part of the sport and to leave it out, you're really not making a documentary.
lol at bodybuilding being "interesting and special." Inject, eat, lift, repeat. Yup, very interesting and special, alright.

If you disdain BB so much...why are you here on this forum??

You said you weren't a filmmaker, so are you really qualified to say what documentary IS? Isn't that kind of arrogant? Maybe if you studied documentary filmmaking a but more, as I have, you might see it differently.
