He didn't go to failure so I would say it was pretty stupid.

What would be heroic about this?

Well, heroic could mean: brave, courageous, valiant, valorous, lionhearted, superhuman, intrepid, bold, fearless, daring, audacious.

As such, one would need to be brave and fearless to do those stunts.

Most people are gutless.  It's easy to call someone who does risk taking activities stupid, foolish, etc.  Imagine going 70 years and the most exciting thing you did was drive 82 in a 55?  That must blow.

People question why take some unnecessary risk.  Logically, it doesn't make sense.  Leading a dull existence is even worse.

Saturday 5pm PST.  Should be interesting.

I've seen a few videos of these high altitude daredevils, but the toughest one I've seen is the video of the guy jumping our of an airplane AFTER he had thrown out his parachute.

He had to fall a long way down to catch it and put it on  and pull the cord before he hit the ground.

Is there a medical name for the tingling feeling you get on the soles of your feet when you see this sort of stuff?

Yes and when things don't go as planned, it's called a "tragedy".

They'll surely start a GoFundMe lamenting the 2 to 4 kids he "left behind" and talk about how he just loved life so much.

have to agree on this one. Altho stupid the rush this guy on the ledge feels has to be something between extreme fear and a high adrenaline rush.
I have an ultra phobia of heights yet I've rappelled off 20 story towers, the cliffs on the Hudson river in Palisades NJ as well as skydived,or skydove, however the correct spelling goes,3x in a weekend.
Looking at the ground from 2-3,000ft up to nearly 8,000ft I felt as tho my guts were gonna ooze out of my head before I even jumped. But the feeling you get once you land and the ooo's and aaahs's from the ppl you went with but chickened out at the last minutes is a high in itself...

No matter how strong you are or how experienced and how many times "you did it before", accidents happen.

One slip and he's a goner.

Impressive for his guts and performance, but very stupid for the risk of course.
Not heroic.....a hero risks stuff for others.
