My take is the RNC was drenched in negativity and fear of everything. That's only going to go so far with only so many people.

There is no reasonable corollary in Christianity or any other major religion. For example, there is no segment of Christianity, mainstream or "extreme," that throws gay people off buildings, burns nonbelievers, commits mass murder of children, and routinely blows up innocent civilans. Not even close.
