I remember Bertil staying at a friends house back in the day in Columbus for a show. Bertil was there with his girlfriend and got into an argument and started to slap her around. Guess he had a pretty bad temper. I wasn't surprised about him killing his GF and her mom.

I like mentzer,  easily on par with Colombo/dickinyourson/samir in the late 70's early 80's

local gotta agree with you , mike was my favorite bb from that era he had a hell of a   look and was a talented writer, its  a shame he let the

1980 olympia drive him crazy, he was joes favorite and could have stayed writing and editing for joe and making a good living for years

I love the 35's, especially on T-bar rows... better range of motion.

Mike over dieted and was too flat for the 1980 Mr O.  The pics prove this.  His chest looked like a pancake.

Yeah Mentzer was nowhere close, way too small for him.

He was known to abuse his wife as well. This from the mouth Rick Wayne.

Mike was much better than his brother ray and Casey as he had the wide squared off shoulders and chest and his hips were narrower than them both i.e. his aesthetics were much better than theirs

Yeah, he's not given that any time at all to settle in, has he?  Just goes to show even at that level, insecurity sets in.  I mean his shoulder girdle was always narrower than a lot of people (a bit like someone else we talk about on here  ;)), but did we care?

I haven't gone through the rest of this thread yet, but there's a famous b&w photo of Bertil half kneeling, with his arms held straight down, and I SWEAR that for years the image of his tricep in that particular shot was what I thought of when the reps got tough!  LOL  ;D

Funny, I was going to mention Roelly in my comment about triceps above, but didn't. Then I went looking for that shot I mentioned. But then I found this, and my goodness!  Doesn't it demonstrate that difference in conditioning we all talk about?  The modern day 'glazed donut' effect?... (and as I've said on here before, I'm a fan of Winklaar, so no hate)
