Didn't hurt immediately. Had sex with the gf (missionary) and felt my abs really fucking hurting, but thought I just had muscle soreness. Went hiking a few days later and slipped on a rock and caught myself from falling but in the process I had insane pain. Went to the hospital, had an ultrasound and I have a left lower ab muscle tear/rupture. Hurts to even sneeze now, or sit straight and a whole bunch of other movements. Anyone else have this and if so, what did you do or didn't do? What did you do/take for the pain and what's the recovery time on it?

ER doc just said rest, which is bullshit. I'm seeing a surgeon tomorrow to see if I have to have it operated on. I've been reading up on it and apparently this sort of ab tear needs to be rehabbed by a sports doc/physio to restrengthen the abs so when the tear heals up it won't reoccur again and again.

I got very similar problem.... I got that sharp painin my lower abs .... I think i just overstretch my lower ab plus i was doing that specific exercise with the dumbel:(.. So after a week of not even touching my abs tthat sharp pain went away... Thank god ... Its a summertime .. U gotta show it off that hard work😬

Partial tear of the rectus abdominis muscle on the left anterior lower abdominal wall with internal bleeding.

Watch and wait most likely to see if bleeding stops. If complete tear they would go in but chances are they won't with partial unless keeps bleeding or the pain is bad.

So if there's no surgery, what am I looking at in terms of a healing/recovery timeline? Weeks? Months? When should I start re-introducing weights/exercises and which ones?

6 to 8 weeks then reintroduce light exercise.

Sounds like the time I sprained my hamstring while doing a high kick/jump while drunk listening to Van Halen, noticed it having sex with my misses afterwards. I recovered since I don't train legs. :o ;D

Yeah, definitely a tear of my lower ab. Still having sex though (doggy style and her on top). Going missionary at this stage would be a suicide mission for me. ;)

Find a decent therapist or trainer who specializes in this instead of asking people here.
Since you're not a pro anything, take as much time as you need. You'll be fine in the long run.
