Even though most of you don't even know him. Actually a good guy in person, but has two lifestyle choices that have been harmful to him over the years. (Not saying this is caused from those).

(Not posting that to solicit donations, but it was the only link with any info on him)

Damn. Surprising how many Americans are against compulsory health care

At the risk of starting a semi-serious conversation here, this is my position:
Up until the birth of my first child, my life and body was mine to f@#k up as I liked. I'm ultra-libertarian - what you choose to do that doesn't affect me or my family is fine and legal with me. BUT, IMHO - as soon as I created another life dependent on me, it is my duty to that child to cut that sh1t out. Now I know there are LOT'S of people who would disagree, but whatever...

Ban bleeding.

Who cares. Would have been better if you had no children. What benefit is there to having one anyways?

Exactly, who cares. Most parents hate their kids anyway, but sadly when the parent dies the child no matter what age usually mourns to a degree. Children are of no benefit but if they have a chance to reach adulthood do they automatically become a benefit and if so to whom? Do they benefit their child who is of no benefit to them and does the child grow up to be a benefit to their children? So, parents are a benefit to their children (sometimes) who are of no benefit to their parents until they become adult then they can if they so chose to be beneficial to their children unless they chose to have no children and maybe get a dog.

I would not fund him if he wants to mess up his mess then he has to figure his way out, but I would fund the kid since he is innocent in all of this.

Can't afford it. We need that money for wasteful military spending, corporate subsidies, and personal profit.

Don't have one.
Cheese Frenchees at the moment. Have been deep frying them like crazy!

Apparently not a thing. As your parents found out. Swallowing would have been more rewarding apparently.

good riddance

Shame your parents didnt hold the same beliefs.

I would have not known the difference if they did. None of it matters either way, don't you see?
Nothing special about procreating or not procreating. On a long enough time line, there will be no trace of any human existence let alone the planet even. The best you can do is do whatever makes you happy and not ruin anyone elses time in the process. Make fun of them, etc.... but don't violate their rights etc...

It doesn't matter if you violate anyone's rights or do whatever possible.
I mean,following that philosophy.
Not that I don't agree with it.

It matters if you have empathy and mirror neurons and are capable of abstract thought and you champion morality. Of course this can also all be subjective/environmentally/situational/context related as well as all on a sliding scale. One you have control over your actions. The other you have no control over and you will be dead anyways and you have no control.
Hurting someone else to get what you want probably is not the easiest way to go about getting what you want anyways. So there is that as well.

He doesn't have to work because of them. He just sits on his ass all day on the Internet. Lazy worthless scum. Get a job!

Nice. Post a pic of Christmas morning.
"Why would you buy a train set? There is no point to a train set! It just goes in circles!"
"Couldn't afford a decent tree with all that kid expense hey?"
"Your eggnog looks off. I hope you all die soon."

Pretty fishy - photos look like they're from some cheesy brochure about poverty and disease. Can't believe that people pay for this... maybe shmoes who want his ass because he is most likely too weak to run away :D
-

LOL - no one cares (except those who feel the need to type a response :D)
And better for who? And why should there be a benefit? Aren't most things in life pointless and futile?
-
Same here man. Birth of a child puts a new outlook on life.
;)
Let me continue to dig my Getbig grave by widening this out a little. I think there are things in life that can't be explained and only experienced, mostly to do with 'love' (however you define it)
- having a child (boy or girl, this is your chance to be better than your own sh1t Dad)
- finding 'the one' (homo or no homo)
- the true love and devotion of a pet (usually a dog, but each to their own)
- landing on the moon
Trying to explain how your life is affected is like trying to describe a new color to someone (and boring as f@#k to them LOL). It doesn't make you better - just different to how you were

The benefit to having a child is that the human body is configured to make you extremely happy, as reward continuation of the species. Whilst I have never really read much proof on this, this has to be prevalent in the animal kingdom, too (the reward factor - hard to say because you don't see animals quite so drunk on the whole experience like you do in humans).
This effect is more so in women - so it really depends which woman you happen to be aligned with.
I know a female who is so selfish, she has almost no concept of other people's desires and they barely affect her own agenda.
Now, someone might say the one redeeming fact about her is that she gives a great deal of her energy to her child. Which might seem at face value to be selfless - but I think it's much more characteristically accurate to point out that she is still the same selfish person, riding a high that her body continues to reward her with, for maintaining the environment for her child.
At the end of the day, we're all basically chasing happiness - which is obviously the result of the brain chemistry. So to answer your question TA, the benefit is that it is a very cheaty vector (in that it doesn't really actually employ much learned talent to achieve) to natural, brain induced drug happiness.
