Terminal brain cancer and doing one Tragically Hip last farewell tour across Canada.
Takes alot of strength, balls and fortitude to pull that off.
Last show to be broadcast on CBC and Online next week

I'm Canadian and can't say I'm a fan of his music. The band is more popular in Eastern Canada than it is here in the west.
-
Very sad. Not a big fan, but I respect the band and its impact. Poor Gord.

This is just a publicity stunt.
He is fine.

Cancer always sucks but holy shit his voice drives me nuts. How does anyone sane like that beats me.

I was never a big Fan but I like a few of their songs. Tuned into the concert last night just because of all the Hype surrounding it. I don't know if he is on meds or what but I honestly thought he sounded horrible. Off key, timing was off to the point that even the songs I knew (Wheat Kings) were almost unrecognizable. Turned it off during the 3rd song. I've never seen them in concert so I don't know if this is how they always sound live but they sound way better in studio.

The show got better as the night went on. Sometimes he screams his songs sometimes he sings well...he just does whatever he wants. I think you have to have been a teenager in Canada in the early 90s to totally get this band. They are uniquely Canadian!
Props to going on one last National tour for the fans after being diagnosed with terminal brain cancer!

I'm a total fanboy when it comes to Kim (and the mighty Max Webster). Guy's one incredible talent. Own everything he's ever recorded.
It's a crying shame his most recent, Ain't Life Amazing, wasn't pushed, in any way. And Canadian radio dropped the ball. It's a wicked effort. "Killer's Name" is beyond fantastic.
Mitchell is in my top 10 of favourite guitarists, too. Beyond everything else in his playing worthy of praise, his achievements/diversity in tone and sound is bettered by no one.
As usual, Canada doesn't champion its own talent. That Kim is a relatively forgotten artist in the new millenimum is incredibly upsetting.
For those who dig awesome musicianship and musical craftsmanship, grab the records and enjoy their brilliance. He's much, much more than "Patio Lanterns" and "Go For Soda" (not that these aren't worthy classics).
