Title: Why is deca good for runners?
Post by: Darren Avey on August 16, 2016, 01:35:10 AM
I know a few runners who take deca?  I don't see how it helps, it causes water retention doesn't it bloat causing more weight? How does that help runners?

footballers were found guilty of it too - Edgar Davids, Jaap Stam and some others I can't remember the names of.
But I'd guess simply for the joint relief and extra power they'd get.
an example of 5% increased power output may not mean a lot to us, but to a professional athlete it makes the difference between a bad result and a very good one.

the margins are fine for them and the extra acceleration they'd get from seemingly a small increase in power output is well worth it.
They wouldn't need a lot at all, for the amount of muscle and increased power output they'd need they wouldn't get the bloat and water retention from that level of dose.

Blood cell count increase.

Deca made my RBC go higher than most compounds.
So I definitely see why they use it when considering the RBC increase, joint relief and power/muscle increase. All in small amounts from small doses but enough for them to reach their goals.

x2.
Bit more RBC, bit less muscle wasting, bit compensation for elevated cortisol.

Any anabolic at a low dose (not turning you into bloof) will help with recovery and muscle repair and deca is just very widely available.

They'd probably take the "clear" if they could but they don't always get to pick.

wouldn't it be better to go on eq? Deca does well with joint lubrication but as far as overall joint health eq imho is king. Not only with the synovial fluid but cartilage production.

If it's good enuff for our horses to run those races by golly it's good enuff for our athletes!

Not sure about Deca specifically but lots of high-level endurance athletes take steroids for recovery purposes.
