Used to hate them as a kid, or at least I thought I did since they were always used as punchlines in cartoons, but man have I really come to love sardines as an adult. They have such a nice texture and a perfect level of umami. I have noticed that they are popping up on a lot of restaurant menus in NYC and I wouldn't be surprised if they become a trendy food ala kale and avocado within the next few years.

I like them on my pizza!

Sardines, packed in spring water, are an excellent food. Very healthy source of RNA, among other good things. A longevity food, a recovery food, and a brain food. I go through six to 15 tins per week.

I eat em all the time. unfortunately the guys at work don't care for the smell but fuck em. oil and hot peppers are the only ones I'll eat.

If you grow them in the bathtub you'll have an inexhaustible supply and sometimes you can say "You have displeased me" and then pull the plug.
You can also smoke them. It's the weirdest high.

Damn I hate them...I love shell fish but any other type of fish fish makes me hurl.

Funny thing is I used to LOOOOVE shrimp so much, but I don't really care for it much anymore. When I was growing up, I considered it a delicacy, but it seems like it's almost as common as chicken these days. Without the exclusivity factor, it's just a very bland food to me. Shellfish aren't really fish, though, and the tastes and textures are really distinct. If you hate most fish, sardines probably aren't going to win you over haha

Its smelly and disgusting its food for low class people and that goes for everybody in this thread who likes it.

Joe Rogan mentioned on a podcast how he used to eat them regularly. Blood test showed his arsenic levels had shot up, doctor recommended to stop eating them regularly. Arsenic levels went back down.

Lobster used to be considered food for low class people. It really is just about marketing and what the market will bear. As stated in my initial post, I used to feel the same way as you do about sardines. One of my life's biggest regrets is how many years I went without sardines as a part of it.

I think seafood in general is high in arsenic and everyone says sardines are some of the healthier canned fish because it's so low on the food chain. Generally, dietary arsenic is not supposed to be too much of a concern. It's weird that his levels would change so much. He must have been eating sardines like bulkers eat tuna.

Stinky-pussy-like food.
I love in that movie The Burbs, Tom Hanks' only good movie, the rat face, when the creepy neighbour offers some to his guests: "Sardines?"
Classic.

Love Pizza and Burgers (and NUTZ) on my Sardines.

A couple years back there was this huge push or Sardines as this trendy healthy food. High in protein and fatty acids blah blah blah. So I bought some and once I tasted the putrid fishiness I stopped eating them

I love King Oscars ... a little pricier but no other sardines compare
Grab the Polar Kippered Herring too, they're like $1.50/tin and have a great smoky flavor

Even though I've had some in my adult years and enjoyed it, seeing them packed in mustard is part of what turned me off as a kid.

Guess the sight of those tiny fish laying side by side in mustard sauce didn't bother me as a kid. I've long been adventurous about food choices, even in my youth. Living on Nantucket, fish was a mainstay in my mom's and my diet....mainly because it was fairly inexpensive.
