Title: Do you think heavyweight boxing will ever have another megastar
Post by: Darren Avey on September 30, 2016, 10:36:52 AM
like say Tyson, Ali and the like. I mean FFS even my old gran watched ALi v Foreman and Tyson v Spinks. And she knew next to nothing about it in general. Id like to say da cage is where its at but the general person on the street still doesn't care. Will HW boxing create another megastar? Like top 5 famous in the world type person. In 1988 I reckon on Michael Jackson, Madonna and Princess Di were more famous than Tyson.

Gotta agree... if Anthony Joshua can clean out the division and keep putting people to sleep he may be a huge star in the future.

Tyson was lucky to be around when he was, knocked over a load of nobodies and washed up ex fighters.

Boxing isn't big in the US because you charge too much for ppv, the best fighters duck each other, there's no good American heavies

Most people today aren't interested in manly endeavors.  So no.

The next big mega star will be some bimbo with an oversized ugly ass, or a twink singer who has all his songs and music  written for him by someone else, or something like that.

What if Irish Terry Conklin isn't really Irish?

Well, Tyson got caught with using Cocaine so i think it will be a long time until we will have a megastar again such as him.

Also, don't put Ali in the same space as Tyson Fury, Ali cannot compare.

There will never be someone as huge star as Tyson Fury again. At least not in 30 years.

You are correct though in that Madonna was more famous than Tyson Fury in 1988.
