Title: Very weak after lifting
Post by: PUERTOROCKS on March 29, 2006, 08:31:49 AM
I'm a new jack to lifting and I have a question.  I did chest yesterday,

Flat bench-4 sets
decline bench-4 sets
pec dec flys-4 sets
sitting bench press (hammer machine)-4 sets
cable crosses-4 sets

After about an hour after I work out, I can't even do 3 pushups because I feel so weak.  Is this normal?

I drink a post work-out Protien shake (GNC P.P. Pure Whey) about 40 grams.

Any help would be apprecieated!!

Did you get any kind of carbohydrates? Protein doesn't do much after a workout without carbohydrates.

And have you eaten enough before training?
It takes time before you stomach digest everything, if you eat prior a training, just make sure there is enough time between meal and training -> about 1,5 to two hours, and don't fill it up, you won't be able to train anymore,
the energy will be released during and after training.

20 sets! Man that's waaaaayyy too much. Especially if your new to training. I do about 9 all-out sets (currently not DC training) and after that it's onto shoulders.
I'd lower the volume dramatically if i were you.

Peace
D

EDIT: if you ARE gonna do those 20 sets, make sure you eat enough carbs and protein post workout and the next days, because you'll need it, bad.

Thanks for the help guys.  I will cut it down to 12 sets.  Maybe thats why I felt so weak.

spider curls- 3 sets
dec pec-3 sets

Thursday Chest

My diet:

2- 6 egg whites on Wheat toast

4-pre work-out protien shake

5- post work-out shake

6- Chicken, fish, or beef w/ salad

What do you guys think?

Why would you want to do a push-up after doing a chest workout?

if you're trying to gain size, you need to triple your calories.

I'm actually 5'11 225 solid but I want to get down to about 205.

Any diets you guys recommend?

I drank a muscle milk (the large size) and an eca stack about an hour before I worked out yesterday and I felt great!!!

Yes, to me that would be normal, especailly if you are beginning and your muscles aren't adapted yet to lifting weights on a regular basis.
