I call bullshit on Rippetoe's assertion that the Powerlifting squat is the correct way to do it. I will posit here that the Olympic Squat is superior to the Powerlifting squat in many ways. Not the least of which is the potential for shoulder and back injury inherent in Rippetoe's method.

power style squats should only ever be done by competitive powerlifters, anyone training for any other reason be it to get bigger/fitter/generally stronger ect should use the full range olympic squat, preferably briefly paused at the bottom
