When I was a teenager in the 80's, we had a Strongman/Powerlifter/Bodybuilder named Tom Magee who wrestled briefly here in Calgary with the local Stampede Wrestling promotion.   He was just under 6'5 and about 275 pounds.  He placed 2nd in the 1982 Worlds Strongest Man. (860lb squat, 573lb raw bench, 820lb raw deadlift). He had a unique ascending training style. Lighter weights were lifted at very slow speed.  Medium weights in a medium speed.  And heavy weights were lifted at a fast speed.  This is how he trained.  He wrestled briefly in WWE from '86 through '90, and retired from wrestling in '90.  He was the freakiest human being I had ever seen. Davey Boy Smith was heavy in to the juice at the time, and he and Dynamite Kid left for the WWF a couple years prior to Tom arriving, and Tom made Davey Boy look small.

dude was REALLY strong at the 1982 Worlds Strongest Man competition. He got weaker and weaker in ever subsequent year when he went more for the bodybuilder look at the expense of his strength.

It does. He was big and strong in the 70's and through the mid 80's and then he got leaner and more striated in the late 80's and early 90's and then he just let himself go and got fat.

Yeah, maybe Warrior does edge out Lex a bit but also Warrior was a bodybuilder early on so that probably helped muscle-wise.

Goldberg was huge, might have even been natural (or I'm just being naive)... He's back in WWE now, interesting to see where that goes.

This is an interesting photo. The Dog Faced Gremlin was more built than Big Poppa Pump in the early days:

Shut the fuck up. I know there was a script cumstain. It didn't lessen the anticipation of who was next. Fun times. You clearly are not able to have fun. You're the guy who doesn't laugh in comedies. Loser.

Thank you for telling us that professional wrestling is scripted, and freeing us from the chains of ignorance.

Your insights light the way.

Haha, he was great, they don't make em like they used to. So many of the wrestlers had a great gimmick and natural charisma back then. Today they are mostly weak copies

Legitly? You see, this is why I bad you on your illiteracy. You don't have a strong hold over the English language, even the basic ones. The word is either Legit, or Legitimately, NOT legitly.

I saw Goldberg at Tampa Airport around 2012.  He was wearing shorts.  His legs are pretty thin. Especially his calves.

Yea, noticed Alot of the built wrestlers have small in comparison legs, especially calves. He was well down in weight in 2012 from his wrestling days though

Remember, these aren't midgets, they are over 6'3" so big calves are genetics on a tall frame

He actually got thicker (less detail though) in the 90's until his wrestling accident in Japan, which many believe led to his eventual death due to the pain killers he was on for the accident. Here he is a bit more beefed up than his 80's days.

I doubt he used painkillers just for his accident. In that era lots of guys abused the hell out of them just to cope with the nagging injuries from taking bumps and being on the road.

Chris Chavis (Tatanka) was impressive.

Also trained with him back in the day. He competed in other late 80' S in local S.FL. contests.

He was also one of the best shoot fighters/grapplers of all time. Any man that could give Joyce Gracie and Dan Severn a run for their money is an elite fighter.
