It is. The only things its good for really is melting chocolate and butter.
The other uses are to heat water fast, dry some herbs, steam vegetables if desperate.
Other than that, completely useless really.

Better way to reheat chicken:
Heat water to 170. Put Chicken in Ziplock bag and get all the air out. Put Chicken in water and wait, 15-30 minutes or so.
Will taste like the day it was cooked.

I don't have one either.
-
I don't nuke my food.

yeah or you could just put it in the microwave for 20 seconds.

Nope, it won't be at an even temperature all the way through. 20 seconds will further cook the outside and you will have a disgusting, rubbery mess on your hands.
You probably suck at cooking anyways so it doesn't really matter though.

I use an infrared toaster oven to reheat everything. Don't even use it. Even popcorn I make stove top.

Let me know when you want to make these. I can make you get them right in about 1:45 seconds every single time.
The problem is that people approach cooking without any real thought of what they are doing or what they want to accomplish. The goal should be results that are repeatable with no variation. That way you get EXACTLY what you want and you never have to wonder why something did not come out.
You wouldn't build a house just randomly nailing boards to other boards and hope what is built is a standing house. Same thing with cooking or anything really.

It's great for making quick easy scrambled eggs but to be honest nothing tastes as good out a microwave vs conventional cooking, even something as basic tinned soup tastes better heated in a pan rather than microwave

I use my microwave for mostly steaming although I've used it to make instant grits and oatmeal. However, there's nothing like good old stove cooking. Of course, I personally think that the best cooking I ever tasted actually came from a fireplace....I shit you guys not. I had a buddy who did everything from a fireplace in his cabin with a dutch oven. Soups, stews, pizza, bread, etc.....it was freaking awesome. He did it all.

At the end of the day, it's not a major investment. I'd rather have one than not, even if I don't use it much.

10 frozen fish fingers take 3 minutes, 1 minute for a pot of microwave beans and of course reheating last night's Indian and Chinese takeaway.
