Very impressive for his age, hanging with the young guns. He said in an interview that he started hitting the GH and that is what kept him competitive.
Amazing arms
-
better than Levrone and Ronnie at their age.....
-
My brother works for an insurance company that specializes in insurance for vintage cars/boats. One day a few months back he got a call from a guy named "Boyer". Come to find out it was him. He was pretty shocked that my bro knew who he was.
There isn't really too much of a punchline to this story....
He was one of my dad's favorites from back in the day.

How many heart surgeries has he had? Is it really worth it?
-
Sold a half dozen of his wigs to Grant (Mr. Zimbabwe) our "beloved" G&O moderator
-
Outstanding arms!
-
Any pics of him looking small and worthless to us now?

HISAWTUN but I'd love to see pics as proof

Boyer seems well spoken and honest, his comeback for the Masters Olympia was quite inspirational. Good interview here:
-
49-50 years old here

honest question---whenever you're talking to someone who is OBVIOUSLY wearing a wig, has the wig wearer ever caught you staring at this wig?
Also, do you have to have some sort of internal dialogue that repeats "DON'T STARE AT THE WIG! DON'T STARE AT THE WIG!" when that person is talking to you?

Kinda like this...

He never met a rear delt movement he liked

Boyer lives just a couple of miles from. Spoken too him on quite a few occasions. Great guy, fun to talk bodybuilding and training with.

some time ago there was a "peruk" account which came up everytime people was talking about chicherillo.....

Kids posting old bodybuilders talking about their bodies....NO BODY CARED ABOUT BOYER COE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! He had a fucked up hairpiece, his waist was way too wide and his legs sucked azz. His biceps were the only thing that mattered and guess what? Nobody did.
Stop posting old bodybuilders that were useless. Like Ed Kawak, Tim Belknap...its getting out of control

Yeah we should be more like you and create threads talking about calling 911 for the presidential election results because your internet went down, or hitting people with your car on the way back from church with your girlfriend. Dumbass.

Dumbass? Look who's talking. A guy that has notes on every thread I've created and then remembers the shit. You wish you could live my life dicface. You post on a thread about Boyer Coe about me...truly a case of mild retardation.
-
Just trying to keep the board bbing related. Sadly with all of the extraneous bullshit threads lately, it takes at least one new thread a day to spark discourse and maintain balance.

Actually there were a few people that cared, I was one, met Boyer on a couple of occasions, very nice to everyone I saw him come in contact with, and his his physique although flawed was still better than 99% of the nonbodybuilding, or bodybuilding public.

Agreed? Yet you rant like a lunatic? It's time you tweaked your psychotic medicine. It seems you've grown tolerant on it.

.. At his peak in the 70's Boyer had one of the greatest true 'classic' physiques of all time

boyer rocked a toupe from his mid 20's

He was so good and had such a unique look in the seventies that he didn't need em' (abs)

he was a proponent of the calf shoes ;D

Never thought much of Casey's structure, weird midsection/obliques. Boyer crushing him down into a fine powder and smoking it.

In all fairness, that's before viator's prime.

Boyer was a world champion deal with it sukkah 8)

Casey looked A LOT different in 1982. A LOT.

I always thought Casey should have been 82 Mr. O. He did the Masters show for fun. He didnever think all those old guys were going to go all out in their prep.

Not even close. Outside of arms, he was a footnote. He has always been known as the one with great (split) biceps and no abs (and wide waist).
-
How is Casey doing these days? Does he has a supplemet line?

Powerful guy. He carried 230-240 pounds really well on a 5'8" physique (5'7" in some of the teen pics).

he's dead

Some more pics of older Boyer. Very impressive, only he, Lou and a couple other golden era guys were still relevant in the early-mid '90s.
-
He opened a line of kidney dialysis clinics geared towards bodybuilders. He's offering franchises. Gym in front...dialysis machines in back. And in the future he's adding mortuary services.
-
Boyer was always one of my favorite bodybuilders.
Saw him in 1972 or so in Boston as he was a guest poser.
He had on a black Golds Gym track suit and looked tiny to me.
Once he got onstage I fucking freaked,Diamond split calves, marble columns for quads, tiny waist devoid of abs but who cares, and his fucking arms were huge, just enormous with split peaks in both biceps......posed like a pro too.
One of the most impressive guys I remember seeing to this very day.
The next day in my youthful enthusiam I trained like demon and was sore for a solid week! :D

I agree Tim. I saw Boyer in 1980 right after the Mr. Olympia contest. He was giving a seminar in Chicago at Bill Pearl's Gym and he came out in his posing trunks after the seminar to do a posing exhibition and I was blown away. His legs, which look thin in pictures sometimes, looked amazing in person. He looked much more impressive in person than in pics. I can see why he was such a great champion for so many years. Also, consider that his career lasted from the 1960's to the 1990's. Not many of today's bodybuilders will be competing for a 30 year period.

Indeed and his 1994 comeback was inspirational. How some people say he was a nobody or a shitty physique with only a biceps split is beyond me.

Besides the skin, more bodybuilders back then look like their muscles are full of water when relaxed...in a good way,,, like they're supposed with 70% water in skeletal muscle...and then there is a huge difference when flexed. Now, the muscles have a similar look flexed or relaxed.

very interesting point - quality catch on the when relaxed look. arnold never looked deathly ripped when relaxed..

Robbie is another one. Gaspari, Christian and Sonny weren't part of the golden era, though. By this point Platz was done. He did that one comeback around '94 but I don't think he ever competed.

Wes and Natural O are absolutely correct. Boyer Coe is bodybuilding royalty. In addition to winning almost every major contest, he came close to achieving the rarity of winning both the overall AAU Mr. America and the IFBB Mr. America title. I think he won the medium class and several subdivision awards in the IFBB show, but was edged out by Ken Waller for the overall championship. I am privileged to have attended his guest posing exhibitions and have met him. Very down to earth, patient, articulate, and personable. Anyone who thinks Boyer Coe had a short and unaccomplished competitive bodybuilding career is either misinformed or an idiot. Maybe both. Again, kudos to
Wes and Natural O for taking the time educate the Getbiggers who aspire to learn and appreciate bodybuilding history. This site is fortunate to have two such accomplished competitors/historians amongst its membership.

Those guys from that generation never seemed to lose it.
