Title: The uncrowned 2002 Olympia
Post by: JCL on November 25, 2016, 03:31:01 PM
No one can argue, this was the sickest physique on that stage that evening.  And top 5 posing routine of all times!

The entire audience wanted Gunter to win, not Levrone.

Gunter looked phenomenal that night as well. But I'd give it to the levrone.

Levrone's lower body was simply too far gone at that point.

Gunther actually won the 2002 Show of Strength. Ronnie got 2nd, Cormier 3rd.

Gunter was a victim of his own hype. After he won the fans' hearts and the SOS in 2002 the magazines billed him as being Ronnie's biggest threat, but he never was able to bring the same package as in 2002. By 2005 he was pretty much finished.

This. Gunther smoked everyone and deserved the title. Regardless of him being white or not. The audience spoke and he was the champ in that Arena!

If gunter didn't have a blocky waist he would've been one of the greatest ever

Was thinking the same thing. He's a big dude but his waist, at least in that photo posted above, makes him look less complete than Ronnie or Cormier. His muscle shape too - chest is a bit lacking compared to those other two. Not saying he looked bad at all, just, not quite as refined as the others to me.

yup. all drugs

It is amazing to me that so-called bodybuilders don't understand the role drugs play.

I am lifetime natural, but I have been around the game long enough to understand that 99% of gym rats have at least dabbled.

I do not judge anyone, as they are free to do as they wish.

I learned the "all drugs" lesson back in 1999 or so, when I was in grad school.

A guy I knew pretty well from the gym was a top local competitor having qualified for NPC Nationals as a light heavy (I believe).

He either got an abscess or an injury and had to go off.  In 3 months, it looked like the guy may have stopped training years before.

that happens to nattys when they stop training.

Stop deluding yourself, your natty muscle is no more natty than steroid induced gains, its all temporary.
The muscle responds to exercise , when you stop doing it the body allows them to shrink because it doesn't need them.
Steroid users shrink more because they gained more.

Totally agree!

And I don't believe that 99% of gym rats have dabbled either.

I've trained for a long time, up and down, took lots of time off in between, and i've always been accused of trying at some point.

Only thing close to steroids that i've tried was clen.

If i stop training, i shrink, but i can quickly get it back with 2-4 weeks of training serious and eating.

I compete at around 200lbs, when I stopped training for a few years my weight stayed at 200lbs, my body composition changed, that was all.
