Mark Wahlberg: Celebrities need to shut up about politics
By Ryan Girdusky | November 30, 2016
During a luncheon to promote his new film Patriot’s Day, the actor was asked if he talked about politics. “No,” said the former rapper and that other celebrities shouldn’t either, reported the website Task and Purpose on Tuesday.
“A lot of celebrities did, do, and shouldn’t,” Wahlberg said to Task and Purpose, a website dedicated to veterans.
“You know, it just goes to show you that people aren’t listening to that anyway,” Wahlberg continued. “They might buy your CD or watch your movie, but you don’t put food on their table. You don’t pay their bills. A lot of Hollywood is living in a bubble. They’re pretty out of touch with the common person, the everyday guy out there providing for their family. Me, I’m very aware of the real world. I come from the real world, and I exist in the real world. And although I can navigate Hollywood and I love the business and the opportunities it’s afforded me, I also understand what it’s like not to have all that.”

I'm not a big Wahlberg fan, but this quote made me think more of him. :)
-
He did however claim that if he was on one of the hijacked planes on Sept 11th in NYC, that he would've killed the terrorists and he would've made a safe emergency landing.
-
wahlberg is wrong.
celebrities are expert on politics and we shall all listen to what they have to say!
-
Fuck Wahlberg, he lives in a Hollywood bubble, what doers he know?
-

message board guys who read "real legit sources" are also experts too, on issues like the economy, science, etc. im glad im able to get the real hard truth from message boarders and celebs
-
i heard wahlberg got a wig
how come he dont speak about that?
-
Good on Wahlberg, when he's not beating down yellow folks, he's fighting for the common man.....
-
Fuck Wahlberg, he lives in a Hollywood bubble, what doers he know?
At least he admits there is a Hollywood bubble. Most stars seem oblivious to that fact. Case in point, Tom Cruise on Scientology.
At the 1:00 mark he talks about being the only one who can help when he drives by an accident. :-\
I'm glad Hollywood's here to give the rest of us advice on living.

Yup. And he got absolutely roasted for it on the net. No doubt it must have been a humbling experience for him. He also didn't want any part of the movie TED. Thought it was a complete joke even while making it. Seth McFarland basically talked him into it almost guaranteeing him that people will love him in that movie. Seth knew it was going to be a hit with all his Family Guy viewers and that it would get a semi following. Wahlberg reluctantly did it and was obviously glad he did...
-
Good guy.
-
yea, he would have saved the day if he was on one of the 9/11 planes. sure pal. what he is about 5 foot 6 maybe. fucking punk. stopped watching his movies after i read that statement

"and I exist in the real world" Mark Walberg - whose net worth in 2013 was $200 million - enlisted mansion-maker to the stars Richard Landry to create his dream home. Here is a photo of Mark Walberg's "real world" home. He's full of bullshit!

I can understand having the beautiful property but what "real world" guy needs a house that size?
-
^^^^^^^^^^^^
Ol' Marky just getting on the winning side after the result instead of looking like a crying baby like the rest of Hollywood. Smart. No need to hate his success, socialism didn't take hold yet.

Horrendous. Complexity for the sake of complexity. Clearly 200 million still cannot buy taste.

I think he's just implying that he isn't the typical Hollywood liberal who is detached from reality and that he understands the frustrations of many ordinary Americans. In short, he's saying that he's a Trump supporter.

I know you think you have the smoking gun, but living in the real world is really just basically not being delusional about what life is like for the common man. You can still be rich as fuck and live in a mansion. It's when you start forgetting about that shit. You can't reject everything a person is saying because they've done well for themselves.
-
his gym looks cheap
not fancy, not hardcore
just mediocre and cheap
-
Yes, it looks like he deliberately went for an oldschool vibe
The basketball court is the same.
-
Gym looks good. Lots of free weights and even a boxing ring. Everything you really need and nothing unnecessarily fancy or gimmicky.
-
his gym looks cheap
not fancy, not hardcore
just mediocre and cheap
Serves its purpose
-
So one GB guy says his house is horrendous and another GB guy says his gym is mediocre.
STFU idiots...
-
On a side note, his house has a amazing gym in it :)
Yes it does.
-
so you got 200 million and thats the best gym you can come up with?
not impressed.

He stated he was "clear and aware of the real world" and that he came from the real world meaning his upbringings of being poor, not now, what he has is irrelevant and he acknowledged what he has now and what Hollywood has provided him
You might want to read what he said again. "I exist in the real world" means currently.
Another thing, he's just one of most entertainers who came from humble beginnings. There is nothing special about this.
Mark Wahlberg has been a fixture in the entertainment business since he was 13. His movie career began in his early 20's. He was famously running around in Calvin Klein underwear at 21. At 45 he's been successful more than 2/3 of his life. Yup, he's just a regular guy living in the real world. ::) ::) ::)
-
Wahlberg seems like a good guy, his comments about 9/11 are legendary though, funny shit.
His house, gym, court all look good, I wouldn't mind some of that
-
he's a jew right? jews have all the answers don't they ???
He's Catholic.

He delusional. Most celebrities came from a normal life as much as he did. He's trying to make it sound like he knows what it's like to work and struggle but the guy was famous since he was in his teens. Maybe his parents know what that's like but he doesn't.

At the age of 16 he was convicted as an adult and spent 45 days in prison.
Arrests and conviction:
At 16, Wahlberg approached a middle-aged Vietnamese man named Thanh Lam on the street, and using a large wooden stick, knocked him unconscious while calling him a "Vietnam fucking shit". That same day, Wahlberg also attacked a second Vietnamese man named Hoa "Johnny" Trinh, punching him in the face. According to court documents regarding these crimes, when Wahlberg was arrested later that night and returned to the scene of the first assault, he stated to police officers: "You don't have to let him identify me, I'll tell you now that's the guy who's [sic] head I split open." Investigators also noted that he "made numerous unsolicited racial statements about 'gooks' and 'slant-eyed gooks'."
For these crimes, Wahlberg was charged with attempted murder, pleaded guilty to assault, and was sentenced to two years in Suffolk County Deer Island House of Correction. He ultimately served only 45 days of his sentence, but carries a permanent felony record. In another incident, then 21-year-old Wahlberg fractured the jaw of a neighbor in an unprovoked attack. Commenting in 2006 on his past crimes, Wahlberg stated: "I did a lot of things that I regret, and I have certainly paid for my mistakes."
After prison, he decided to improve his behavior. Of this he has said,
As soon as I began that life of crime, there was always a voice in my head telling me I was going to end up in jail. Three of my brothers had done time. My sister went to prison so many times I lost count. Finally I was there, locked up with the kind of guys I'd always wanted to be like. Now I'd earned my stripes and I was just like them, and I realized it wasn't what I wanted at all. I'd ended up in the worst place I could possibly imagine and I never wanted to go back. First of all, I had to learn to stay on the straight and narrow.

Haters going to hate, I don't think for one second he is trying to make out he's still in the same position as other people, he qualifies this in his statement, but don't let that interpretation :) get in the way of a misinterpretation flame on, if their successful and wealthy hate them. :)

I like Mark Wahlberg. His comments about 911 where not the best. However I think he may have meant it another way. I think Mark was deeply angered about that day much like the rest of us. I remember watching it on tv just like all of you did as well. Some of you maybe where there in person when it went down, for that I am sorry. It was a fucked up day for sure. As a bystander watching, I was first concerned for my families safety, not knowing the extent of the Ttack and how much more may yet to come. I was then angered to the point I wanted to kill every one responsible. Now back to Mark, he probably felt the sAme way and, during the interview got worked up about it Nd he pictured himself on the plAne doing things we all wished we could do. He spoke without thinking the context it was going to be. I am sure he had no intention of disrespecting the brave men and others whom died on those planes that day.
I like what he says about Hollywood Actors, you guys should as well. I think Mark is a GetBigger ..........
-
He is right though. Because someone can act, sing, play guitar, people are supposed to listen to their political views?
Many sheeple do unfortunately, thats why the world is so fecked up. Cant think for themselves. Media is 90%+ liberal owned.
They spew shit, retards buy it...

100% he's right in this.
Election shows that nobody cares what the kooky primadonnas in Hollywood says. As if their opinions holds greater value than any others... Delusional fucks

He delusional. Most celebrities came from a normal life as much as he did. He's trying to make it sound like he knows what it's like to work and struggle but the guy was famous since he was in his teens. Maybe his parents know what that's like but he doesn't.
Most celebs don't live in the real world. They often live in their own liberal bubble. Their political views are far more to the left when compared to the average citizen. If the presidential election were decided by celebrities, then Hillary would have got 100 votes for ever 1 that Trump got. Their political views aren't even close to being representative of the US as a whole.
Wahlberg is clearly aware of this and has just pointed it out. Not sure why he is being criticized.
-
If he wants to see people that need to shut up about politics he should be directed to getbig.

But he also said he is aware of the real world, and acknowledged his lifestyle, like I said him being rich and living in a mansion is irrelevant, he was implying celebrities shouldn't talk politics

Sad news for you, I am nowhere near the end of my life. What's funny to me is how clueless you are. Enjoy the bubble in which you live.

Interesting. Are you suggesting that in order to be monetarily successful you must be a Jew at heart?

Sorry I did not make this clear from the start; I feel no hatred towards Mark. He's a successful and very likeable guy, whom I've actually had the pleasure of meeting. I'm just calling him on talking out his ass in this instance. I'd say the same to him in if I see him again.

I think what he means is, is that Marky Mark has rusty fenders on his bike...
